I really like the looks of the Soviets WW2 equivalent of the US Willy's Jeep, the GAZ -67B.
So I picked up a 1/48 scale Tamiya kit to customize to fit into my IG army.

Haven't figured out the rules for them yet, but I have the idea they would be utilized as expendable recon units
to make contact with the enemy on long range patrols. If they don't return from patrol, then the IG officers now know
where the enemy is! I think they would make a good alternative to horse mounted IG cavalry.

I love it! Seems like they would make for good Sentinel stand-in, rules wise.

Haha, very cool looking. You should write up some rules for it. Maybe make it a unit able to hold objectives.

It's pretty straight forward. I just built the kit using the instructions. The parts are fine and delicate compared to the GW sturdy bits, so care must be taken in assembly. That's the main reason I mounted the vehicle on a 60mm base, as it's somewhat fragile to be used as a gaming piece. Besides, the base makes it equal again in scale height to infantry units with bases.

I used a stubber w/shield from some Banedblade bitz I bought. I modified the shield so it wouldn't hit the driver's head. I also cut down the stubber's barrel length, though in retrospect I coulda used the shorter length stubber that comes form the Chimera kit. An AC or lascannon
would have been cool, but I wanted to keep it portrayed as light scout vehicle and not some overpowered beardy tank/monster killer----Though certainly the Willys Jeep were historically outfitted at times with weapons as big as a 37mm cannon, multiple tube rocket launchers, and large recoil-less rifles---Not all at once, mind you

The Tamiya kit does not come with any stowage, so I looked up photos online of the Jeep in WW2 to give me ideas what bits to add on it.
Jeeps were usually loaded on with lots of gear, especially those of the British Long Range Desert Groups. So I piled on as much as stuff as I could find in my parts box.

The lasrifle on the drivers side was done using white glue and tissue to form the base of the scabbard, then I followed up with liquid green stuff, and applied two plastic strips for straps.

The kit came with a driver mini. I used the lower half of that driver's legs and glued a Cadian torso to it.
I did attempt to put a third trooper in the other passenger seat with a grenade launcher, but got frustrated crafting the lower legs
and put the idea on a back burner for now. i think a GL and Stubber combo would make it a excellent hit and run light anti-infantry patrol vehicle.

I've ordered some sentinel multi-laser and AC bits to put on the Gaz's main weapons mount using magnets.
Today I made a heavy bolter and a heavy laser set-up swappable weapon set. Photos to follow soon!

I dig it! That 1/48th scale fits it almost perfectly. I like the suggestion of it as a sentinel. Keep it up!

I think there would be a tactical advantage using these Gaz's/Jeeps over the Sentinel models. With a lower silhouette , they can use cover more effectively to stay out of LOS, unlike the walkers that stand out above most terrain . So hide them from your opponents LOS behind some good cover, then scoot out and shoot!

I've changed my mind and decided to go beardy with the Gaz jeep and add some swappable heavy weapon options'

Heavy Bolter Option

Heavy Lascannon Option

I'll post more photos after I receive my Sentinel Multi-laser and Auto-cannon bits to add to it.

Inspired by old "Rat Patrol" movie scenes of jeeps flying through the air, I decided to give the IG Gaz jeep a make-over to make it look more dynamic as befitting a fast attack vehicle.

I made the following modifications to create the illusion of visual physics:

Drilled and pinned the front wheel to the base with a metal rod
Bent the driver's side front wheel to show it taking the shock of landing.
Applied hot glue from a glue gun and epoxy ribbon to create a dirt explosion for the front wheel impacting on the ground.
Bent the drivers head forward, and made his helmet look like its about to come off.
Repositioned the radio to make it look like it's bouncing upward.
Reposition the gunners right arm to cling to his helmet.
Added dog tags to the back of the gunners neck flying out behind him.
Added a flying canteen, map, and IG codex.
Repositioned the windshield.
Super glued the end links of the front chain to make them point upward.
Painted a shadow under the Gaz.

I think the Las cannon makes the jeep look too small but it looks fine with the h-bolter.

And the rebasing is awesome.

Going with a Gaz rather than a jeep was a good move, it looks real but is not too familiar
