Hi Folks,
Just started a Tau bunker with a gun / observation tower.
Hoping to build the existing structure into a rocky outcrop incorporating the staircase. Thanks for looking.

With the paint on it that looks strangely authentic for the tau... could maybe use like a communications array or something to complete the effect though.

Hey bibblles,
Cheers for your comments- it's good to know I have nailed the Tau look as it can be difficult when scrounging parts. Not sure on the colour yet, just an undercoat at the moment to fetch out the shape..... It will probably be beige or camo, the rear of the model is going to be a rocky outcrop at the bunker is set in a hill with the watch tower over looking.
Are you saying a discreet aerial array would make it look a bit more authentic, let me know any suggestions- am open to ideas.
Cheers
Mark.

What about a couple of drones launching pads on the sides with drones flying off, You know, to check around eheh.
Nice build and for the color I suggest to go with the rocky hill camo scheme 'cause make sense.

So you will be building up the rock/cliff around it? What will you be using?

Firstly, sorry for lack of replies- I thought I had set the forum up to notify me of further messages and I had not ( just thought people had lost interest, ooops. )
Please see below some further pics including the finished item ( now on sale on ebay UK, item number- 251032462062 )
The construction involved building up the bunker face using a number of plastic right angle pieces, these were screwed into a fibre board sheet. The hill was formed from insulation sheets to get the basic form and then sculpted around with gobs of expanding foam. Texture was added by using grout, decorators calk and a fine mist of plastikote texture spray. Some of the rock form was made just by chipping away at the foam. I found basecoating it in a thick gloss paint useful too. If you ever use expanding foam, approach with caution. It is horrid stuff, like expanding superglue- it sticks to everything and has a mind of it's own.

Very cool! The white cylinder above the old blue part...is it one of those bottles of gum?

Cheers Folks,
Well spotted Narhay, you're dead right. Sequence of parts from top to bottom is.... Internal switches from a food whisk, followed by an orange guard taken from an ink jet cartridge. The turret top is bart of a vintage B wing bomber. Then we have the gum bottle followed by a thermal coffee cup. The main face is made from more cut down B-wing bomber bits.... the stairs are forms from a CD rack bottom and some cut up office equipment which has been cut/ melted and formed. Best advice I can give to anyone doing this is select a model kit of a tank or something and embelish the model with finer detail pieces to make the shape crisper and more realistic- you only need a few parts.
Mr Scotti- I'm taking a bit of a break soon as I need to do some man chores around the house ( the dreaded DIY. ) I do intend to return to this but it may be a while, the Tau bunker looks much better than my house does.
If anyone wants any tips, give me a shout.
Mark.

Looks great. One of the better pieces of home made terrain i have seen so far and a great use if foam or whatever the rock part of it is. Also great paint job. Would make a cool center piece of a tau army or battle field.
