Subject: 1k Orks. Getting a solid list down before I start spending money.

Getting a bit tired of my IG for various. So wanting to start a new army and after some thinking I settled on orks. But before I go spending money I wanna make sure I am happy with the core of the army. Which is pretty straight forward and simple. But I figured I would post it up anyway if anyone cares to share the thoughts on it please do!
=======================================================
Hq
Warboss W/ Mega Armor, Bosspole, Cybork Body = 115
Troops
Ork Boyz X 12 W/ Nob, PK, Bosspole, Trukk = 147
Ork Boyz X 12 W/ Nob, PK, Bosspole, Trukk = 147
Ork Boyz X 12 W/ Nob, PK, Bosspole, Trukk = 147
Ork Boyz X 12 W/ Nob, PK, Bosspole, Trukk = 147
Nob Squad X7 W/ Pain Boy, Bosspole, Big Choppa X2,
Cybork Body X2, Kombi Skorcha X2, Battle Wagon = 325
(Battle Wagon W/ Deff Rolla, Big Shoota X2 = 120)
Total = 998
=======================================================
Notes on the list.
I am going with a mega armored warboss for a few reasons. The biggest being the modeling opportunities. I also wanted a CC monster. IG hqs are great in a supportive role but they tend to
disappear into the background pretty quick. I wanted something that was big and noticeable and out in front smashing into the enemy. A mega armored warboss will do all of this wonderfully.
The boys in the trukks for my troops. Strong and fast units..if a bit fragile. Very straight forward unit and can tackle a lot of targets. Infantry, armor, walkers and even some MCs. Also again the trukks will also give me another pretty neat modeling opportunity. Each of the 4 will be different. a rhino, chimera, Tau devilfish and t the last being an ork trukk but I am going to do what Dave Taylor did with his.( http://thepaintingcorps.blogspot.com/2009/10/friday-quick-tip-ork-trukk.html)
For the nob squad I wanted at least one "toy" at 1k and the nobs being tough as nails in CC plus giving a retinue for my warboss as well as being able to take a battle wagon with out eating up a heavy support slot for later was just to good to pass up. Great unit in CC with a tough transport to crack with the bonus of great piece of gear that is the deff roll. Pretty decent way to round out the list.

I'd put riggers on the battlewagon. I'd also like to point out that I'm fairly certain the entire nob squad has to pay for cybork bodies, but I don't have my codex on hand.
I assume you're putting the warboss with the nobs in the wagon. Drop the bosspole on the nobz, replace with waaagh banner. The warboss's pole is more than enough.

Hmm I just assumed that it was a new option for any nob in the squad..not an all or nothing upgrade. Now that I read the entry I am not sure..
"All models in the Painboy's unit may have"
Hmm I guess that does mean all or nothing. Ill just switch those points over to another upgrade.
I played with the idea of other upgrades for the transports. The Trukks seemed so easy to pop why bother trying to avoid it. I could easily work in points to help make the battle wagon more durable. But I am not sure if riggers is worth it? Being able to get rolling again seems awesome. But it doesn't happen right away. If i get the 4+ I am still stuck for another turn for the enemy to shoot/assualt it.

Negative. This is backwards. Bosspoles belong in the unit, not on IC's if at ALL possible. IC's get singled out in CC, and as monstrous as warbosses are, you'll find that all those attacks at Init 1 means that you accumulate wounds before you're striking. No one wants the warboss krumpin' them for long, so the Warboss goes down before the squad he's attached to. Remove it from the boss, keep it on the squad.

I felt the same way for awhile, however, those 5 points either give you the chance of being mobile again, or force your opponent to finish the job(or die trying)under the threat of it becoming mobile again. It's worth it, and when I have the points, I purchase it, though I usually don't on the vehicle my KFF Big Mek rides in, as he can do it instead. Battlewagons do well with AP. It's one less damage result that can stop you from moving, which is what battlewagons want to do, whether delivering a mob, deffrolling, or both.

I can understand the arguement for dropping the bosspole on the Warboss. Makes a lot of sense and ill drop it from him for sure.
I guess ill just have to try some games with and with out the riggers and see if i really miss it or not.

Your list is hard to beat at 1000 points as it is - the only thing I would change to it is instead of a battlewagon take a normal trukk and drop your waboss and take ghazghull instead For you the nobz, change them a little - nobz all with normal choppaz, painboy, cyborg bodies for all - let your numbers wear him down ie take as many nobz as you can fit in that truck - ghazghull is a beast and will nail any special characters of hq they got

Ghazghkull is extremely expensive for a 1k list (nearly 1/4 of the points). Definitely not worth it at this point level. I have trouble justifying him even in an 1850 list due to his point cost.
I also second the armor plates on battlewagons, keep them moving at all costs so you can keep on deff rollin' that enemy army.
As for the Nobz, I would definitely keep their weapons diversified, that is one of the good things about a Nob squad IMO.
Also, I understand why you want to take the Warboss but from a competitive stand point I still have to point out the Big Mek KFF. That cover save on your Trukks and BW is totally worth it.
On a side note for the Warboss in Mega Armour: Saw a neat idea for this online last night at work, not sure who to give credit to and can't remember where I saw it (maybe Ebay?) but, they used a Ghazghkull model as a basis to convert it into their Warboss in Mega Armour. Looked pretty awesome.

I had that thought at first. str 5 on the charge is pretty mean. Plus with the amount of attacks you get is pretty mean. But after i ran through some scenarios having a few bog choppas in there made more sense to me. If they charge a tank or get into it with an MC of some sort. Went with the kombi skorcha as well to help avoid them getting bogged down in a big tarpit unit of some sort.. Hate for them to get stuck in a masive assualt with a bunch of guardsmen,guants or other orks.

I actually plan to use the ghaz model as a base for my warboss. I know a KFF rocks in a list like this but I am ok with the durability lose in exchange for a more offensive HQ. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also are reinforced rams on the trukks worth it?
Allows me to tank shock...Also gives me +2 front armor for tank shocking and ramming plus reroll ondangerous terrain checks.
This 5 point upgrade seems to bring a lot more to the trukk. It is now a weapon. It gives the trukks better mobility. Since now I can drive more in straight lines through terrain instead of around. As well as giving me the option to do tank shocks on infantry.

I always run RR on my trukks for those reasons: Tank shock and almost complete immunity to difficult terrain.
And yes, Ghaz is way too expensive at 1k.

My trucks are always 40 points.... I don't even think of taking them without RRs... It makes it so that you can basically drive anywhere!! Ignoring terrain is awesome!
