I have two lists I've (mostly) settled on for my 1500/2000pt games in 40k. They do need some tweaking, and I'm hoping for input on battlefield tactics to field them properly.

Note: I don't have any predators, but I do have another Marine squad, but their mount (A rhino) that is poorly built and would probably lose me points on painting/modeling if i where to field it in a larger tournament. I am very WYSIWYG, so, my Lasbacks won't be LasPlasbacks anytime soon. :(

Anyways, let's start with the 1500 List:

HQ

Librarian - Force Weapon, Psychic Hood, Power Armour - 100 pts

Elite:

Sternguard Veterans - 10x Sternguard Veterans, 10x Combi-Melta Gun, Power Fist - 325pts

Drop Pod - 35pts

Troops:

Scouts - 8x Sniper Scouts, 1x Missile Launcher Scouts, 1x Sgt. Telion - 200pts

Tactical Squad - 1x Melta Gun, 8xBolter, 1xSergeant w/ CCW + Bolt Pistol - 175pts

Razorback - Twin Linked Lascannon - 75pts

Tactical Squad - 1x Melta Gun, 8x Bolter, 1x Sergeant w/ CCW + Bolt Pistol - 175pts

Razorback - Twin Linked Heavy Bolter - 40pts

Heavy Support:

Vindicator - Demolisher Cannon, Siege Shield - 125pts

Vindicator - Demolisher Cannon, Siege Shield - 125pts

Vindicator - Demolisher Cannon, Siege Shield - 125pts

-1500pts

The current plan for this army is to rush the Razorbacks up to drop off the melta marines near enemy tanks, and then from then on giving supporting fire to the marines. The Sternguard will drop near a high value target, and either melta it to death (or combat squad once bailed out, and melta two tanks), or Hellfire Shell it down if it's a MC, or of course, use one of the many other special ammo it has depending on the opponent. The Librarian will be dropping in with them on this, and will either use his "The Avenger" to flame the squad, or just provide some lovely Psychic Defense. He'll also toss out a Nullzone, if theres nothing to light on fire.

The Scouts (and Telion's) job is to draw fire from other things since, Telion can snipe out Meltas, Plasmas, Missiles, Sergeants, etc, and cause some good psychological damage. I've seen people divert from shooting Terminators in an attempt to bugger him. With stealth providing the +1 cover save to the rest of the scouts, he's really only a 23pt upgrade over getting camo cloaks, for a 2 shot Sniper Rifle at BS6.

And the 3 Vindicators jobs are obvious. They can shoot at infantry blobs, tanks, whatever. Moving 6 inches and dropping S10 shells of doom is fun.

And, the 2000pt List:

HQ:

1. Librarian - Terminator Armour, Storm Shield, Force Weapon - 140 pts.

ELITES:

1. Assault Terminator Squad - 5x Terminators w/ Storm Shield + Thunder Hammer - 200pts

Dedicated Land Raider Crusader - 250pts

2. Sternguard Veteran Squad - 10x Sternguard Veterans, 10xCombi Melta, Power Fist – 325pts

Drop Pod – 35pts

TROOPS:

1. Scout Squad - 9 Scouts + Telion(10 total), Sniper Rifle x8, Missile Launcher - 200pts

2. Tactical Squad - 10 Marines, Melta Gun, Missile Launcher, Sgt: Melta Bombs - 180pts

Razorback – Twin Linked Heavy Bolter – 40pts

3. Tactical Squad - 10 Marines, Melta Gun, Missile Launcher, Sgt: Melta Bombs - 180pts

Razorback - Twin-Linked Lascannon - 75pts

HEAVY:

Vindicator - Siege Shield - 125pts

Vindicator - Siege Shield - 125pts

Vindicator - Siege Shield - 125pts

-2000

The Sergeants gain Melta Bombs for the sheer fun and joy of having Melta bombs, giving me more options to charge tanks, if the Melta on the squad doesn't work. On top of that, I throw Assault Terminators into the mix, and throw the Librarian into terminator armour to help the Terminators blows land home with Nullzone. The LR:C is the terminator delivery system, and will either be a giant "Shoot Me" sign, or will be able to drop the Terminators in right on an opponents head. The 1500 Strat, but now with a strong Close Combat punch.

Anyways, any C&C is nice, and any ideas to tweak my strategy / tactics would be great. Any input is appreciated!

Those look like fun lists to me and judging from the lack of comments they must be pretty good also or else someone would have said something by now

Have you given some thought to what powers you want on the Librarian? Null Zone may be a great combo with the triple vindicators, letting you kill assault terminators, HQs, Warlocks and all other annoying infantry with a decent invulnerable sabe by the bucketload.

I might also add a couple of different combi-weapons to the sternguard. You have good armor-cracking volume already, so making a couple of those into combi-flamers can really help you think out a convenient IG blob, ork mob, or Eldar in cover. Especially combined with the drop pod menaing you can pick the best location possible to place the template.

In Boxing matches, you actually get paid to take a dive and make the other guy look good.

In Warhammer 40K, you're expected to pay cash out of your pocket for the privilege of having Marines and IG trample all over your Xenos/Chaos.

Those are fine lists.

I would recommend taking the missile launcher out of your scouts, they really don't need it. You have tons of anti-tank.

Your second list needs extra armor on your land raider, also consider using a redeemer instead. A chaplin would do well for the list put with the termies. I like the melta bombs, since they mean your marines won't fear vehicles.

Both lists should have a the marines take their free missile launcher. I know it doesn't look like you need it, but sometimes you need that extra missile launcher. It's free after all...

Keep the 10 melta guns. You're basically saying "I will kill something" and that means your opponent has to respond properly or lose a very, very expansive unit.
