I've never really done a painting blog before but here we go.
With the new sisters "codex" out I figured it was time to bring back my old girls and give them a new coat of paint. Hopefully all goes well.
Here is my first test piece for the scheme, let's hope it all goes well!

First Update:
First off, here is the (almost) finished Rhino. I didn't have an extra Rhino Stormbolter around so she had to do.
Then after more than a week of sitting in Simple Green, 2 Scrubbing Sessions, and work overs with tooth picks and various pointy bits the first squad of sisters is primed and ready for paint.
And also my Death Cult Assassins of Which I need 3 more (If anyone has any they are willing to trade )
And last but not least, my count as crusaders, I've been using these as crusaders now for years and love the models, but for the life of me cannot remember what they are from, if anyone can identify them I'd love you forever , Anyway, in the works is plasticard shields for their backs.
Thanks for taking a peek! Hope to be updating more regularly now that all the old paint is gone on everything other than my tanks.

That Rhino is awesome. Love the colours, too.

And you know what's funny? "feth" is actually censored on a forum about a dystopia where the nice guys are the ones who kill only millions of innocents, not billions. |

That Rhino looks great, I love SOB logs.
How did you do the chipping on the front of the rhino, sponge? It looks great. Please keep posting pics, even if it's only me responding ill keep this thread alive. =o]
Are the sisters also going to be half and half like the rhino? or just one solid colour?

If you click on the second batch of Rhino photos you can zoom in and see the sister in the top. That's gonna be the way the sisters look (Green cloaks and robes, white Armor) , special things such as superiors and characters may have a slightly different scheme.
As for the Rhino damage, I use a corner of a bit of sponge, with bleached bone, then the same with boltgun metal, then brush highlight with chainmail, then on top of it I apply some weathering pigment.

Update numero dos: March 20th, 2012
Okay, So it's been a hectic week not much painting has been done, but the frenzy shall start soon. I did however gather all of my reinforcements to boost my army up quite a bit!
First we have the great big box of killin' that came today.
So everything that came today was, a blistah of sistahs, 4 Crusaders, Uriah Jacobus, 2 Death Cult assassins, Meltaguns, a Superior with a Bolter, and one with a Chainsword and Bolt Pistol, last but not least, also a Rhino. This doesn't include my Lizardmen Slann Mage Priest and my Skinks and sauruses I received in a trade, exciting day!
Next up is the least/most exciting thing for me
PENS! They will be used for a greater cause than writing though! They will be used to (finally after about 4 years) create my 3rd and final on of these bad boys(girls)
My beloved exorcist conversions, unfortunately they are still primed for my old paint scheme so they have quite a bit of work yet to be done, if anyone is interested in how I do them I'll do a How to when I work on the newest one.
and now to show the little bit of painting I have gotten done.
A half squad of sisters and their rhino, the Rhino is essentially done except for a few touch ups, the squad on the other hand has been a total pain, after trial and error on the other half of them I finally got my layering for white ready, I just haven't gotten there yet, this whole squad should be complete by the end of the week, A lot of work still to do, but with all these new models I have a great motivation to burn through these old ones and get to painting!
Here is a full model list for anyone interested!
There's a few more one off random models that I probably forgot about
40 Battle Sisters
2 Canoness
4 Crusader
5 Death Cult Assassin
8 Dominion
2 Dominion Superior
3 Exorcist
3 Mistress of Repentence
3 Penitent Engine
22 Repentia Squad
5 Rhino
1 Saint Celestine
4 Sister Superior
1 Uriah Jacobus, Protector of the Faith

I wish painting was moving a bit quicker but, simply put, it hasn't
A really quick update though!
70% of the tanks are basecoated, the other 3 Rhinos are in need of some scrubbing.
I wanted to take this shot because halfway through the airbrushing basecoat they were half green, and half red (my old basecoat that refused to come off so I left it) Thought i'd post a stupid, yet festive photo.
Here is the giant wall of basecoated tanks, at least if i'm playing fantasy and need a quick wall these will suffice!
might do some more painting on some sisters tonight, I have been having trouble with the white on their armor and halfway through painting my first squad realized a much quicker and better looking way , so I kind of had to scrap the squad and start over. We'll see how all goes this evening.
The plan for tomorrow is to magnetize my special weapon dominions and basecoat the remaining 3 tanks!

Woah 2 Updates in 2 Days! That's a feat for me.
So I did some of what I planned today, and a bit that I didn't
First with what I had planned on finishing, My dominion Special weapons, what with Melta Sisters costing roughly the same as special characters (I can haz plastics soon GW, ya?)Buying a pack of meltas and magnetizing my Flamer sisters in my dominion squads was much cheaper
I clipped off the fronts and inserted magnets
then did the same for the tips of the weapons, the meltas aren't 100% accurate but it works until....uh....(sorry to repeat) GET SOME FRACKING PLASTIC SISTERS
The meltas and their unfortunate rest of the guns (Will probably use them for something else, maybe Cannoness Combi Meltas)
Now for something unplanned, I scheduled a game tomorrow against a good friends Space Wolves, as I'm in the middle of rebuilding and repainting my sisters are in quite a state of disrepair, to kick off the giant frenzy of quickly rebuilding that will happen tomorrow I decided to finally do my 3rd Exorcist conversion (only took me about 3 years to get to) Here's a sort of step by step if anyone is interested
Grab my trusty Jeweler's Saw, this thing seriously is awesome.
Mark the pens for death
Furiously decapitate 32 of them
Cut plasti to length
Glue start gluing like a boss, one pen end in front and one behind
Stop gluing when it looks like this
And Finally! The Trifecta of Destruction (or complete failure, depends on my dice) The little Fleur de Lys were purchased from Michael's, go into the Jewelry they have literally 50 Bajillion different Fleurs in pretty good sizes
and a little thing I picked up to Sister up my Rhino Doors and Exorcists
So, that's it for now! I will be rebuilding quite a bit of my army tomorrow to prep for my game in the evening, so expect yet another update!

One more quick update before my game tonight, spent quite a bit of time today assembling my 3 Penitent Engine unit. These guys are mostly useless but I figure in a casual game I'd field them because the models are awesome. I've really never tried doing dynamic poses before so they look a bit silly, but I like them!
I've lovingly given them all nicknames!
Hi-5
Double J(He was painted but I'm stripping him, didn't have time to leave him in the Simple Green)
Bearhug
On a sisters painting note, I decided to reverse the scheme on the sisters, Green Armor, white robes, the white is too finicky for me to do fine details on the armor and it's driving me nuts, not to mention I like the look better
That's it for today, may post a brief battle report after tonight
