Nabbed a few of the top members.
Law enforcement agents on two continents swooped in on top members of the infamous computer hacking group LulzSec early this morning, and acting largely on evidence gathered by the organization’s brazen leader -- who sources say has been secretly working for the government for months -- arrested three and charged two more with conspiracy.
Charges against four of the five were based on a conspiracy case filed in New York federal court, FoxNews.com has learned. An indictment charging the suspects, who include two men from Great Britain, two from Ireland and an American in Chicago, is expected to be unsealed Tuesday morning in the Southern District of New York.
“This is devastating to the organization,” said an FBI official involved with the investigation. “We’re chopping off the head of LulzSec.”
I imagine a lot of these individuals will roll on anyone they know in order to avoid jail time. Could be a major break against Anonymous.
On the other hand, they might not know anything.

Think of them as a different subset of Anonymous, using their skills to primarily hack into Sony and other government and corporate entities, poking fun at their lax security and finding flaws within their systems.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did start ratting on other "hacktivists."
Surely they've torrented enough episodes of Oz to know that they don't want to end up in prison for any significant amount of time.

I actually find there to be a major difference between the hacktivists who make up Anonymous and true activists (this is probably mostly bias). Activists take action for a cause, they don't use the cause to justify stealing SSN's, credit card numbers, cause rampant chaos that has no benefit for anyone. I find hacktivism right now to be a joke. They release huge amounts of documents, that frankly, reveal nearly nothing we don't already know. They steal millions of emails and maybe a dozen actually have any new information in them? And even then, the information they reveal is pointless. I couldn't stop laughing reading about the Stratfor hack and how Assage was revealing the super secret terrible conspiracy behind a bunch of paper pushers who produce projections for other paper pushers. Good job Assage, do you feel like your life is important now?

A difrent take on the story from the BBC;
"Six alleged hackers based in the US, UK and Republic of Ireland have been charged with crimes related to computer attacks said to have affected "over one million victims".

That probably is the problem; the power one feels when your own unemployed, insignificant life ain't doin' much versus holding the names and numbers to innumerable accounts of people who had their identities breach are two very different feelings.

What's funny is it's possible anonymous was responsible for giving information on suspected anonymous members related to the suspected anonymous group calling themselves LulzSec, in a profound demonstration of anonymity.
Or none of it matters. Moving on.
