What sort of bits have you got to work with? I used to mix a box of normal Marines with Chaos ones and build them in a sort of half and half combo, if you follow me...lol.

Vandalism/removal of Imperial Aquila, Eight Sided Star and possibly horns or blades.

The biggest indicator someone is a loser is them complaining about 3d printers or piracy.

Battle Damage, Trophies of fallen guard/sisters/GK etc, chaos banners, defiled imperial insignia (burning aquila, snapped banner etc.

Extra blood and gore is always good.

Is it the Black Reach Marines or normal Tactical Marines you're wanting to change? Either way, all the above ideas would be more than good enough.

Sometimes painting them mostly in dark colors with bright highlights according to the chaos god of choice will work.
A marine painted blue with white trim? Ultramarine.
Dark blue marine with red/green/blue/purple trim? Chaos Marine.

New chaos marines are probably trying to gain favor of their new gods by bolting additional chaosy decorations onto the armors. (as alreads seen on all GW chaos marine models)

So - as already mentioned in this thread - try to add new decorative trimmings, spikes and signs of chaos (chaos star or the signs of the four gods). Depending on your green-stuff skills, ether add those to the armor or start directly with chaos space marine parts but paint their armor mostly in a loyalist scheme, but paint chaos signs made of blood on top of them. I think keeping most of the loyalist color scheme is an interesting twist.

And/or simply add some mutations. But they are new chaos followers so try to keep it simple. A mutated hand here, some sort of maw on an armor there and maybe an already mentioned horn bursting through an armor. Just let is look like the armor was damaged by the process and there was no time to adapt the armor to the new mutation. (As it probably happened not long ago without the time to properly adjust the armor.)
You could also add trophies for their gods in form of skulls, bodyparts and other bloody bits.
