Hi, guys. I'm trying the boiling water technique for bending a termie arm, leaving it in there for 15-30 seconds at a time, and it is not working. Anybody got any tips? It's thicker plastic, so should I leave it in there significantly longer? Doesn't really seem to be warping much.

Definitely try longer - a couple of minutes - but don't get your hopes up too much, I've never had any luck using this method on thick plastic. For something like termy armour, I'd usually use a scalpel or razor saw.

15-30 seconds works on (styrene) things up to about 1mm thick.
Beyond this, you pretty much have to cut and stick it to repose it.

Well, you guys were right, it didn't work. It's okay, though. I found a workaround for the conversion I was trying to do. Thanks for the help.

So we told you it wouldn't work and yet you did it anyway?

Why did you bother asking?

Why not? Sometimes the only way to find something out is to try it for yourself.

More than likely, the reason other people tell you it can't be done is perhaps because THEY HAVE ALREADY TRIED IT and wish to save you the pain.

Do you need to put your hand in a fire to know if it is hot?

Sounds like, from the advice on this thread, that the boiling water technique is:
1. Put plastic part up to 1mm thick into boiling water.
2. Leave plastic piece in water for a few minutes.
3. Remove plastic part and bend it.

I assume that it's for repositioning an arm or a weapon or something without damaging it, or going through the tedious cutting and nightmarish greenstuffing processes.

Or they have tried it and it didn't work for them. Just because someone says something dose not meen its true. No need to take offense at someone doing that.

There's a new game that all the kids are playing, it's called Russian Roulette. Apparently you could get fatally injured but well I fancy giving it a try.
