Hi, its been a long time since I posted here on Dakka and has been even longer since I painted something I am a little bit lazy.
But the past week I have been very productive and painted up a considerable amount of my Tau forces.

Some of the models have been shown is the forum before, but I have since painted more details on them like the metallic gyros on the battlesuits. One of the broadsides and two of the crisis suit look darker. This is because they were painted with a different method a few months back. Before I would wash the entire model and them highlight a bone colour, now I selectivly paint the wash into the recesses and highlight with a 50/50 mix of the base brown and a bone colour.

Not uncommon in a mountain desert. Plenty of grass in Utah, and even green at the right time of year, but still 'desert'.

That Riptide looks fantastic. I mean, the whole army looks great, but the Riptide looks especially beautiful.

Hey it is an alien planet so who know how much grass there actually is
And these Desert themed Tau may have to venture to other parts of the planet or to other planets in the system, so again who know about alien grass

Either you got lazy on the crisis suits or you did them first. As i scrolled down the paintjobs got better and better, then i see the Riptide and went O.O niiiiice

Also the bases, while contributing to the theme, arent exactly required to be full on desert. My army is purple/green, but theyre all based on ruined terrain which would make you think i'd want a cityscape scheme (varied grey colors, black, maybe some white).

Overall, looks great. Only real gripe i got is your Farsight's red looks a little messy

Those two old crisis suits and the old broadside were painted months ago in the same Colour scheme and with the same paints but a different method. That's why they look bad compared to everything else lol
I think the crisis suit in the middle of the three looks way better.

Funny that you like the Riptide aswell, he was paint months ago with the crisis suits, the only different is after I washed him I gave him another coat of Brown.

I present 30 Fire Warriors, or in the new dex I believe they are called Striker teams. Correct me if I am wrong.

And so the makeover begins. I was not that impressed with the red paint job that I had on a couple of my Tau models so I have been working to redo them in my army colour scheme.

For those of you who like my first Riptide, I hope you are going to love this one.

All the base coats have been done and the wash applied. Half way through highlighting the light brown.
He is really coming together

He is finally complete and I think he looks amazing compared to the red. I am really happy with how he turned out, my only grip is with the right thigh pad though. The edge highlighting is not as neat as it should be
As for the other Riptide you guys are all so fond of. I have been looking at him as a reference while I painted this one. He really is not that good The paint job just inst that neat, granted I did paint him several months ago.
