Has anyone out there tried putting their Master of the forge on a bike so he can move and fire his conversion beamer to stay at max range?
Since i dont have legs yet for my MotF conversion Im thinking of trying this.

Interesting concept, though I'm sure it would be fairly expensive points wise. It might have to proxy this in my next battle and see how it works out.

I've never personally ran a MotF but I've heard good things about running one with a beamer on a bike. I even recall seeing a very awesome MotF on bike conversion into an ATV.

Similar to the autarch with a reaper launcher on a jetbike but at least that gets jet shoot jet, you're a little open to instant death and it's hard to kill enough stuff with what will normally be a s8 ap4 blast to get the points back. Under ideal conditions you have the mobility to out range most weapons and drop s10 ap1 blasts but that type of terrain/positioning/not scattering/not shooting ork boyz longshot feels like gambling.

I've used it on occasion, I tend to attach one to a small bike squad and let them run around the back field. It helps that I use thunderfire cannons and ironclads to force my opponent to stay preoccupied.
The beamer has served me well, as has using vortex of doom at the same time with a librarian.

I've used it from time to time. It's a fun, survivable unit that can double as a repair man. It almost always survives since usually it's too far away from the action (and hell, that's what you want) and even when they shoot at it, it has a 2+ save. Works best with a gunline army since it can serve as both mobile artillery and countercharge.
Pointwise though, I'm still not sure if it's efficient. You're basically spending 155 points on one S6-S10 shot in a blast template. Sure, it reliably kills things especially big vehicles. But I just feel like with those points, you can squeeze in more guns.

Hmmm sounds worth a shot at least, he's pricey but I like running more unique units.

MotF is mostly used to access heavy support dreads. For those lists where you don't need HS, but have plans for elites. Lets you run the 6 dread list too.
The beamer on bike is pretty much what happens when you try to make him useful. And it actually works pretty well too. I've proxied one in the past, and it does more than my captains every have (similar cost too).
