I have been working out the kinks in this list and am pretty satisfied with the durability and mobility. I am still debating the wargear on the Sgt in my command squad and the loadout of my dred.

Wouldn't putting that dread into another typhoon speeder be more beneficial for the army? You already have lots of things that will kill stuff outright should they get into close combat.

You might want to note that the Deathwing command squad isn't actually an HQ choice, it's just a normal Deathwing squad with a standard and Apothecary.

I wouldn't advise putting multi-meltas and Typhoon launchers onto the same Land Speeders; it makes them too expensive and forces you to waste either the multi-melta's firepower or the Typhoon launcher's range potential every turn.

Leohart has a point on the subject of the Dreadnaught; in a Deathwing army, it's better to build Dreadnaughts as fire-support (swap DCCW for missile launcher).

Or a Vindicator. :-) Nothing like a Str 10 AP1 to mob the floor.

MM are free on the Speeder so no points added. They are perfect the way they are. If there is a weapon destroyed then he still will have AT.

I would switch the Sgt weapons around. Give them a TH/SS and then a squad member to have the LC's. Better wound allocation that way.

That way you have 4 different models.

All in all its a pretty standard DW list. I think the Dread would be better off with Plasma cannon or Assault cannon to help with horde.

I avoided going with more speeders since I already have 2 and like the flexibility that the dred gives me. It has can lend some support shooting while keeping up with any of my terminators as well as being a good tough unit to possibly tie something up in CC for a turn or two if needed. I also didn't have the 10 points to upgrade the DCCW to a missile launcher, only had 5 points left so tossed on the heavy flamer.

The speeders are a bit pricy at 75 each, but they again fill multiple roles. If I run into a list packing lots of AV14 then they are probably going to be sent on suicide runs to take down the armor the rest of my shooting will struggle with. If they are not needed for that role they can use their speed to move around the table and achieve better angles for the typhoon missiles.

I know the 6th DW squad isn't HQ but they will serve as Belial's command squad so I have them grouped together for writing the list.

I think speeders with Typhoon MM @75pts is super cheap. Everyone else pays 100 pts for those. That is why more of them is better. ;-) In fact, take 6.

Balsak that is pretty much how they will be broken down, I had it the way it was written for my army builder read out was a little cleaner. The sgt isn't any different from any other DW member so it was mostly book keeping for that order.

I would have liked more speeders, and may use more if the list ever expands up to 2000 points, easy to drop in 2 more and be done. But for this point cost I wanted a dred and didn't want to bring fewer than 30 terminators as I love watching opponents respond to that many terminators.

Yeah I hate the way Army builder has all the squads typed out. It is rather confusing at times.

I do think the speeders are the best support unit for the DW. Should do pretty good for you.

I myself do doublewing. I just love both of them doing what they are supposed to do. Hunt them foul Fallen. lol

Maybe you guys should try BattleScribe. Doesn't have that problem at all.

I looked at double wing but the body count was too low for my liking. Also this army is being modeled with chaos terminators and heavily converted vehicles. This is more of a wing of Fallen.

A wing of the fallen!? That sounds very interesting! I am currently doing disgruntled Daemonhunter Deathwing (metal Grey Knight terminators with storm shields and thunder hammers). Its basically a Paladin army that has had enough of loosing morale checks to Rhino tanks shocks!

I would also recommend that you drop the Dreadnought , but realistically speaking there is nothing you could get to replace it and still be at 1850!

I was browsing the internet and found an unusual Deathwing list: almost all support units+apothecary+banner were dropped for an extra terminator squad! Perhaps you can give that a try if you ever felt like trying something different (I haven't tried it yet)?

Please post some pictures of your army; I am curious to see how you will adapt the Chaos models!

Once I can score enough arms from people who bought imperial terminators in recent years it is just a matter of applying the arms to the plastic chaos terminators. The joy of plastic kits makes this very doable. Same goes for the plastic venerable dred kit with a pair of chaos forge world arms and some assorted chaos bitz.

Can i come with a quick side question? I am thinking about starting a Dark Angels army. But what are the chances that GW will outphase the Dark Angels, like with the Daemonhunters and the Grey Knights?

Dark Angels are not going anywhere. Worst case scenario they would get rolled into the standard marine codex with some special rules for special characters. But GW isn't likely to remove one of their long standing chapters from its place of having its own rules.
