Hey guys. As my throne of skulls guard list is painted and ready for next month I am giving myself a little break from guard to paint ow well guard.

Me and my mate are learning epic. It is well epic, the game is great fun and Im loving it. Anyway I thought why not blog my army as I do it as its something different and I have not seen any epic blogs on here.

So far I have 3 mk1 bombards from the old titan legions game.
1 leman russ company
14 chimeras
and many many troops

So been building and painting all day but am only just scratching the job. I have taken a picture of my fist finished chimera for you all.





Of course taking photos is a little difficult on these little things. I hope these are good enough for you all.

There are now three chimeras



and this is a guard squad minus its base being painted. Could not really get a good pic of the detail its way to small.

I am having problems with the metal tanks chipping if you even look at them funny. I have just sprayed a bunch of chimera tanks with acid car primer which i will follow up with black primer then paint then varnish. Hopes this fix the problem.

Any comments peoples?

I'd probably go crazy attempting to paint up epic stuff. Excellent work on the tanks

Got some wip units here for you. These added to the tanks and men I have done so far will complete red company and be my first fully painted company in the army.



Note the chimera with dozer so I know what tank the commander is in. Shall probably do a little paint mod on 2 to show the ogryns

Not done a huge lot today. Hant really been in the mood.

I have however paint stripped the three mk1 hydras that arrived today and reprimed them with the first coat of acid spray



Apart fromt he fact these models were built gak, not by the person who I got them from I mean they are shitly made models, I like the old design they look like old ww2 aa guns not the piss sticks you see in 40k these days.

I have also primed 4 MK1 deathstrikes.



In a reversal of thought these old models are just gak compared to the new ones but I am not paying £12 50 for one deathstrike from gw they can suck it.

Lastly today I have done a squad of ogryns. Base aint painted yet but you get the idea.

Have done some things today before I go to work.

When I got home from the gym this morning I found 3 packages.

1 contained 10 leman russ tanks and 14 more chimeras from gw.
1 contained 3 MK 1 basilisks from ebay that have never been painted.
And the other contained 6 MK 1 basilisks from ebay that have been painted and are now in my super paint stripper.

Mainly today I want to show you my progress with stopping this paint chipping problem.

Here is a chimera that I have given a coat of GW gloss varnish


I did this last night so it had plenty of time to dry. Of course the gloss made it shiny which looks gak.
To counter this I have given it a coat of testors dull coat spray.


This has totally killed the shine so all good. Now I just need to see if it chips anymore. Fingers crossed.

After being happy at home the chimera looked after a dull coat I have begun to varnish the other tanks. Here is a pick after their gloss coat.



These will get sprayed tomorrow morning with dull coat as the varnish needs to dry properly.

Right then. Tonights work.

I have paint stripped the 6 basilisks and added them to the other 3 ready to be primed tomorrow.



I have also built another 7 chimeras ready to be primed.



Starting have have quite a backlog of tanks to paint never mind the men.

Ok so todays update. Been quite a busy day. I have painted 3 more chimeras including one of the command ones. They have been gloss varnished and when that drys they will get done with testors dry coat.




There has also been a lot of spray painting going on.



Here are the 7 new chimeras the 9 basilisks and 3 hydras when they were being primed.

I also thought I would take another photo of the finished tanks now they have had all their varnish done.



As you can see the testors has done great work and I think they have come out real nice. Lets just hope they dont chip no more.

Huge day of modelling today. I have built 6 more chimeras and 9 more leman russ tanks.

I have painted the entire basilisk company and the 3 bombards and painted another pair of chimeras.

So busy day we better have some pics. First up the basilisks.

Notice at this point how units/companies all have a colour. This will keep gaming simple when units get intertwined.


Lastly a big army shot for you all. This is the army so far it is broken into the 4 companies (2 mechanised 1 tank and 1 artillery) and the support formations (2 groups of 2 death strikes the 3 bombards and the 3 hydras)




Now I need a rest I think these testors dry coat fumes and messing me up

Quick uodate.

Had a game friday. Got beaten by my mates marines. Units broke and I just could not rally them. I have just won some shadow swords on ebay and some more bombards. I have also brought more deathstrikes as apparently i need them a lot.

I had a good time when my friends and I played Epic. Good to see that someone is still playing. Nice army.

Been doing some bits today. I had a package in the post with 3 more old deathstrikes inside it. I have paint stripped them and reprimed them. Here is a pic.



Following last weeks game I have decided to remove the ogryns from my army. So before I varnished them I changed the 2 ogryn chimeras from red company 2 blue company to hold normal guard.



I have also painted the first 4 deathstrikes and gloss varnished them. I decided to go with grey missiles as white would take to long and i dint want a silly bright rocket. What do you guys think?

Following that I did the three hydra tanks. They are gloss varnished to.



Lastly today a couple of pics of the tanks I have painted so far. Of course the ones that are shiny are waiting to be dull coated. This will be done later when the gloss has had a few hours.

No, sadly my Epic days are gone. It's very typical of players around here. They get hot and horny to try out a new system, rant about how awesome it is, then only want to play Warhammer 40,000. Always.

So, after several months of not gaming, I traded the lot away. I had a Titan legion, which I really liked.

Right a quick update today. Yesterday three shadow swords arrived. They have been paintn stripped and reprimed. I will start painting them tommorow probably get them totally done.

Got 3 more bombards to do aswell they seem to suck ingame but they are very cool.

Lastly I played my mate again he killed me again. The problem seems to be that I have 6 deaths strikes in 2s and he only needs to look at them the wrong way and they blow up. As being a space amrine he nearly always gets the first move he just sends in a thunderhawk and thats a squad gone then does a double move with some whirlwinds and thats another squad gone so they never get a chance to hit thbe damn titan. I did kill it this time tho. The combined firepower of the leman russ company and an artillery company with 9 basilisks in it brought it down.

Right. today I have paint stripped the new bombards and primed the shadow swords. I have also won 2 manticors 2 more hydras and 6 more deathstrikes on ebay

Not much else to add today apart from I have been reshuffling my army list and now I am having a supreme commander. Here are his command chimeras.

Started the shadow swords yesterday but was not really in the mood to paint so they arnt finished yet.

Well still hant been in the mood to paint any tiny tanks. But today I did get some ebay stuff.

The Deathstrikes are wonderful models I've got a pair when they were new at £3 a piece direct from GW. This was however when plastic marines came in only 3 poses. Bragging aside they are lovely set pieces any plans on using the older ones as Manticores now?

No the older ones are deathstrikes always. Need hundreads to counter all the titans my mate wants to field.

Actually there are updates for Epic check out the Tactical Command forum for Epic Armageddon and Net Epic. Those Shadowswords are looking good.
