What do you guys think is the scariest 1000 points of IG ?

Power blobs ? Air cav ? armor rush ?

I think it might be the following;

HQ
Lord Commissar; Camo cloak = 80

Troops

Platoon A
PCS; 3 x flamer = 45
Squad 1; seargent with power weapon, melta bombs = 65
Squad 2; seargent with power weapon, melta bombs = 65
Squad 3; seargent with power weapon, melta bombs = 65

Veterans; 3 x Meltaguns in Vendetta = 230

Heavy Support

Leman Russ Battle Tank; HF = 150
Leman Russ Battle Tank; HF = 150
2 x Hydra = 150

Total = 1000

The lord commissar givces the whole platoon 3+ saves, platoon can hold objectives and kill opponents in CC even walkers. veterans can pop vehicles and monsterous creatures especially with their transport. The hydras can knock down enemy skimmers/walkers and transports. The russes can kill anything lol

And how is the LC giving out 3+ cover saves? Think you are reading the rules a bit different there. He has a camo cloak, therefore, he has a 3+ save when in cover. He is not wearing a como blanket/quilt that covers the entire army.

Plus, this should be in the Army Lists forum.

I like to imagine the Emperor kills so many Orks that he ends up half buried beneath a pile of corpses, with only his head sticking out. A lone grot stumbles across him, and starts choking him.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

the camo-cloak gives stealth to the LC and if he joins a unit the whole unit gains stealth while the LC is attached to them

Also, the odds of IG pulling off those feats in cc before being squashed are slim at best.

I would dedicate an army that small to purely shooting.

Lord commisar with camo cloak
marbo
1 squad of vets with chimera
2 squads of penal legionnaires
3 deathstrikes with camo nets.

Exactly 1000 points of death. Put the commisar in the vet squad, depoly the chimera infront of the deathstrikes for even more cover, outflank the penal legionnaires and drop marbo in.

You could also take a primaris psyker and put a meltagun in the vet squad and use nightshroud for all kinds of laughs.

At 750 I run

CCS with 4xmelta
Vendetta

Vet with 3xmelta
Vendetta

Vet with 3xplasma
Vendetta

Marbo

To add another 250 points I dunno, but my regular opponents think this is a pretty mean list to run at that level, so I guess its competitive? Its hard to catch, dishes out pain, and can do dick moves like dropping its troops onto an objective while on its way to contesting another (did it once....CCS contested one, Vendetta another. absolutely golden) and things like that.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Camo Cloaks do not give the +1 Cover save to the entire squad.

It doesn't for space marines.

"A model wearing a camo cloak has the stealth special rule"

Any model with the cloak gains Stealth, but, any of the members of the squad without it do not gain the +1 cover save.

That is awesome. I'm running that in the next thousand pointer I play. And just for added kicks I might change out the lasguns in the vet squad for laspistol and ccw. However, your list comes in at 1030... so...

Lord Commissar w/ 'pace, PF, MB
Marbo
Vets w/Grenadiers (for 'pace) or Demolitions (for the demo charge and MB's) and Chimera, 3 flamers, shotguns or laspistol/ccw, Sgt has PF.
1x Penal Legionnaires
3 deathstrikes w/hvy flamers and camo cloaks.

Everyone rushes forward, delays the enemy in CC, deathstrikes kill everything (including, or especially, your own men) then move in with the flamers to mop up.

When beset by doubt,
Run in little circles,
Wave your arms and shout.

I'm glad you like it, but are you sure the points are over? I double checked it on my end again and am pretty sure the points for what I listed are 100%, though I don't play guard maybe I'm missing something.

the scariest here would be blobs.

1000 points.

100 models (most with stubborn), 8 autocannons, 8 meltaguns, 25 power weapons. On objectives missions, you've got 7 units (well, up to 11), while on KP games, you're only fielding 5. I'd even take this over the deathstrike list, no sweat. 3x deathstrikes may or may not even get to shoot once all the ranged firepower gets done, and even then, with the eventual 1's that are going to be rolled to wound, this army is still going to have more models and guns on the board.

Also, from the main rulebook FAQ:

Q: If only some of the models in a unit have the Stealth special rule, does the whole unit benefit from the +1 cover save? (p76)
A: Yes. In effect the ones with the Stealth special rule ensure their colleagues also find good places to hide.

So as bizarre as it is yes, a single man with a camo cloak can better conceal an entire Infantry platoon.
