Is it possible to get a 2k army in 50 or less models (other than ogre kingdoms)? My group now is big into fantasy but the high model count is something I just don’t want to deal with. I would rather have something tiny and fun than competitive and big.

Are there any builds at this size game that would max in the 50 model range?

Thanks for any opinions!

Very few non-monstrous infantry (or similar) armies can make that cut.
Warriors of Chaos can do it with Trolls, and you might even be able to pull it off with a Chosen Death Star and Warriors.

Nothing else really comes to mind though.

You could do it with a WoC Throgg army easily. Actually, you could do it with just about any army that has MODIFIED Core units (i.e., with gear) costing about 12.5.

So

Lizardmen
Daemons
WoC
High Elves

etc

Get 40 of them. That's 500 pts (12.5 avg, your Core min.).
Lord 500
Hero 500

And some smattering of Rare/Specials rounding-out the rest.

A knight-based army would work for Empire.

20 knights (with a couple command) would fill up your Core requirement and a Steam Tank makes a nice Rare points filler.

TGM with a couple of Captasus and wizards, 3 mortars and some magic items and you're there.

Throgg is the troll king. He lets you take units of trolls as core choices.

I'm just talkin' about Megaweapon.

@ArtfcllyFlvrd,
Trhogg is a special char in the WoC army book,
The king of the chaos trolls, he lets you take trolls as core

An all mounted bretonnian army could come in at under 50 models pretty easily.

Throw in a pair of trebuchets and you'd do alright.

You'd be suprised,

Every army can build 2,000 with 50 or fewer models.
Start with minimum core, with full command and magic banners (500 points worth), then load up on specials, rares, and characters,
Beastmen/tomb kings use chariots as minimum core, skaven hit it with storm vermin and weapon teams.

Tomb kings work pretty well, 8 chariots with command and banner either a horse archer or skele archer unit for a hierophant, put a prince on the extra chariot then add 2 sphinx, a casket and sprinkle in a catapult or other monster.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

I indeed stand corrected! I suppose I was too caught up in my tiny little WoC bubble.

Yeah, I think a ton of armies can. It's just not always the most competitive builds for those armies.

Skaven would be better served going for Thrott to make Rat Ogres core I would think.

But then you have to run "I eat my own dudes" Thrott

So include a small unit of Giant Rats? Minimum unit size is 6 models, so it wouldn't take up a whole lot of model count...

Bretonia could manage it with an all knights list but you would be using the more overpointed units (Grail knights) to meet that 2k points.

Rolls for the dice god!
