Hey all, i'm (trying) to make a all fluff SM White Scars army, and i wanted to ask the all the dakkas out there to please post what they know that could help me out when creating my army list. For example i know that ws don't believe in dreadnoughts, and they are all about fast attack/ hit and runs. Thanks everyone and i hope to be posting army lists and pics soon.

^ That pretty much.

Genghis Khan and his horsemen archers in SPAAAAAAACE!

Nomadic tribe-like, topknots with shaved sides/heads, long thin mustache & beard etc.

They prefer the "lightening strike" approach to combat: lots of bikes, land speeders etc, also delineated through their Chapter symbol (yellow lightening bolt). Their homeworld of Chogoris is described as the steppe (surprise, surprise), full of nomadic tribespeople.

You can read the wiki page: http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/White_Scars

Don't know about much fluff. I've recently read the Rogue Star (couldn't get Star of Damocles cheap) and Savage Scars novels to get some insight into the Damocles Gulf Crusade, however they're pretty bad at providing insight into either the campaign or the White Scars, unfortunately. So I recommend you skip them for something else, if there is anything.

Homebrew Imperial Guard: 1222nd Etrurian Lancers (Winged); Special Air-Assault Brigade (SAAB)
Homebrew Chaos: The Black Suns; A Medrengard Militia (think Iron Warriors-centric Blood Pact/Sons of Sek)

I agree that Savage Scars is just dumb bolter porn not giving any interesting information about any fraction involved.

Not surprised you don't like it.
Maybe it was the other fraction, not the White Scars, that wasn't floating your boat?

One could try "Hunt for Voldorius", but thats also not really a White Scar specific piece.
The best source of fluff was Index Astartes. But they may have changed a few things, since they did with others.

The "facts" are:

- got a SC, Kor'sarro Khan
- act as headhunters , see the quests of the captain above
- recruted from nomadic tribes
- loved their bikes as mechanical steeds... to fit the cavalry theme without any sort of "wolf riding wolf"
- fought at the siege of Terra
- their Primarch lost on a hunt....

No, it's pretty much as he said: no one comes out of that novel looking good.
