Quick question...

If the green models are in a challenge combat, do the red models still able to make there attacks against the unit?

Trying to figure this out. I know they are in a challenge and units can't attack the challenger per say but that challenge is still "base to base" and part of the unit so would that still count as being in base to base with the unit to make attacks against it?

Thanks
Chung

I would think you could still attack the unit in question.

The two models on the side can't attack because the only model in b2b is the model in the challenge. The one model behind the model in the challenge can attack because the model in front of him is in contact with a model that isn't involved in the challenge.

Do you have a page number where that is found? Otherwise I'd say yes they can attack.

There is no single page, the situation goes like this, the two side models can only attack what they're in contact with (who can be attacked rule somewhere in the combat rules), they're only in contact with that one guy so they can only attack him BUT he's in a challenge so no attacks for them.

OK I see what you're saying but the side models still can't attack even though, per the rules, they are still in essence, in b2b with the enemy unit itself?

Then I take it it's important then who makes way for the challenge first. If there's a challenger who makes the challenge, then per rules, the challengee makes way to the challenger first. If he can't, then the challenger makes way to the challengee but if they can't both make way, they stay in the position they are at and you "pretend" they are in b2b for the challenge.

That's they way it would work then?

Keep in mind that you do all attacks in order.
Once the chapion is killed in the challenge, he is immediately replaced with rank and file from the back ranks.
This may allow more attacks for one side or the other, depending on the initiatives involved.

Using champs and heroes to block corners is a good way for crappy units like skeletons to survive combat.

The model behind the character in the challange may attack as he works out his BtB from the model in front of him.

The models in the side however may not attack as they are only in BtB with a model in a challange, and as such may not attack him.
