Hi all,

I'm normally not one for intro posts, but I've been reading the forums here off and on for years and it seems like a friendly enough place to hang my hat for a bit.

I've been playing 40k (Blood Angel lifer) off and on - more off than on, as I've lived in fairly rural areas - since 2ed. I recently found a FLGS here, and got a couple of my friends hooked on the game as well. I sent them towards this forum and a few others as spots for good advice, so I suspect they're at least lurking and devouring all of the tactics advice they can find here. Figured I'd toss my hat in the ring and get some veteran advice and maybe help out if at all possible.

I'm a gamer, not a hobbyist, so Listhammer and Mathhammer are kind of my bags of tricks, so I'll probably be spending most of my time lurking in or around the list review and You Make Da Call sections - list review because I enjoy that side of the game and am ultra-competitive, and You Make Da Call because I have questions and you have answers.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Welcome to Dakka! I hope you can get some more playing in.

Frodo: I can’t do this, Sam.
Sam: I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.
Frodo: What are we holding onto, Sam?
Sam: That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo… and it’s worth fighting for.

Welcome to Dakka

I feel obligated to warn you about straying off the beaten track and into the forgotten depths that is Off-Topic; if you value your sanity, then you won't stay in there longer than you need to.

Once you have tasted the Off-Topic drug, you are hooked for life.

And remember, what has been seen cannot be unseen.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I'm not an alcoholic! Rich people are alcoholics, I'm just your average every day drunk.

But no, the wagon I fell off was the one where I'd finally stopped spending more than the GNP of a small third world country on the hobby.

Thanks for the warm welcome, all!
