I don't know if this is the right place to put this so feel free to move it

right i keep getting destroyed in two or 3 turns by my brothers eldar.
In high points matches i fair pretty fine its matches that are pointed 1500 points or below

so im asking for help in constructing the most competitive force with what I've already got as im on a really tight budget being a student and all

so here goes

what i have

HQ

marneus calgar

captain with combi weapon power/artificer Armour and a thunder hammer

librarian terminator Armour and storm shield

master Harath Shen (will pm data sheet for all those that are not familiar with him)

5 honour guard w/ banner and champ all with boltguns

Troops

10 marine w/melta gun + multi melta with combi weapon on the sergeant

10 marines w/melta gun + missle launcher with combi weapon on the sergeant

5 scouts w/snipers Telion

Elites

5 sterngaurd w/ 5x combi weapons and p/fist

dreadnought with multi melta

dreadnought with lascannon

10 terminators 2x assault cannons 2x chain fists

vindicare assassin (bit of a rough point as not in marine codex)

Fast attack

5 vanguard w/ 5x plasma pistols and 4x power weapons and lightning claw

3 scout bikers power weapon 3 x astrates grenade launchers

Heavy support

storm raven w/ TL multi melta TL plasma cannon and hurricane bolter (using blood angels codex (not so much a problem as he likes to see it go boom))

As far as I know, this is the right place for this article. In smaller point games, I would not use Calgar or honour guard. Personally, I would got with the librarian. Sternguard are also another good inclusion. If your dreadnought's arms are interchangable, add an assault cannon to one. A good solid tactical squad base in rhino's is a common thing I see against marines. Also, if you can say what kind of eldar he uses, I could probably tell you more specifically what is a good idea.

Its a ragtag collection of models but I'm sure its workable.

Can you post up what your brother's eldar lists usually looks like? Or does he switch it up all the time?

Baneguard thanks for the advice with the hq's as thats one point i always go overboard with and with regards to his list it usualy looks like this

10 guardians scatter laser platform

10 dire avengers made as shooty as possible (no idea what upgrade as i don't have his codex)

5 pathfinders

10 howling banshees

5 fire dragons

5 swooping hawks

2 x wave serpents (for fire dragons and banshees attached with farseer)

wraith lord with sword and star cannon

and i thinks that's it i will get him to post the exact thing when he finishes work

but i don't really want to tailor an army to beat his Eldar just a as competitive as i can get against Eldar list

I would suggest getting some transports for your marines.

Yes i am well aware grimnarsmate but i have very little in the way of funds at the moment but i do have 2 transports for the time being

I know your short on funds, but I think that some heavy anti-tank may be required, like a devastator squad full of missile launchers. If your opponent uses fire dragons; I would avoid using terminators. Again; I suggest using sternguard. By the way, are you using normal marines or blood angels.

I'm using the normal marines codex but i am using the blood angels codex for the storm raven i am told that gw plan to integrate them into all marine codex's next edition

comes to about 1500 points have fun dissecting.

I would go for a base of tactical marines instead of using scouts. Your main problem are the banshees and fire dragons. If you can strand them without a wave serpent at the other side of the board, you can pick them off at your leisure.

That last list loos like it could take on eldar. For tactical squad weapons, I would take either heavy bolter's or missile launcher's. With the razorback, I would take twin-linked lascannons and with the dreadnought's, assault cannons.
