I bought Vallejo's Umber wash to see if it would be similar to Devlan Mud. When it dried it had a very powdery appearance, which was okay since I was using it for bases and it looks very like dirt. It is rather different than any other wash I have used though.

Has anyone tried the other washes and do they have the same result? I can't see the same effect working well as a flesh wash.

I've got their Green wash. It goes on nice and smooth just like a GW wash and it isnt powdery either.

It might just be your bottle maybe thats a little powdery?

I have a bottle of the Game Color Flesh Wash and it's the polar opposite of powdery. If anything, it behaves more like an ink than a GW wash, drying glossy with rather intense (although still translucent) coloration (unless thinned).

Did you use it straight out of the pot or did you thin it? With paints, at least, over-thinning with plain water can lead to a chalky finish (something about pigment clumping as the binder is diluted beyond functionality, I believe) - I imagine pigment-based washes could suffer the same issue.

has anyone ever told you that your avatar looks like Eddie Vedder?

I actually just shook the bottle and dripped some directly onto the bases and spread it around from there, so it wasn't thinned at all. I picked up the Fleshtone Shade yesterday, we'll try that soon and see if there is any difference.
