The title is the question. Have you ever bought a model just because you liked the model?

I play Vanilla Marines and Blood Angels because the majority of the models are interchangeable and I like Space Marines. I don't play Grey Knights but I keep looking at that dreadknight and it looks so cool I haven't bought it yet but I probably will. One model I know I'm getting is that new FW Chaos Decimator Deamon Engine. It looks amazing and I'm sure it will be a blast to build and paint but I'll never field it except as a proxy. I just want the models because they seem fun to build, paint, and look at.

I'm probably going to end up buying every IG model they make, just because I love having everything just in the off chance that I MIGHT use it. I have a primaris pysker that I bought just because he looked awesome. I never run him in lists, but I use every excuse I can to proxy him as another model, just so I can have him on the table.

I also have an unhealthy habit of buying commissars every time I see one in a store. I'm afraid I'll eventually have enough to field a whole platoon of them one day...

I grabbed a Cypher a while back, partially because I needed to get my purchase over $30 for free shipping and partially so I could have one before it was pulled.

i have a pile of different faction models, not because i play all of them, but i love to paint a great looking model.

Kinda sorta. I once bought a box of 5 thieving grots just to get the free shipping from GW. I say kinda because I use those very grots for objectives, I just never used them as actual grots or anything.

I bought an emperors champion. I play DA. I figure I'll use him for a champion in a comand squad or something but primarily just because I think the model is cool.

There is also a bunch of fantasy stuff I want because it looks cool even though I don't play fantasy.

I bought Coteaz, and I don't play GK. I just love the model. He'll probably find his way into my Black Templar army though.

I think we do an apoc game like once every 2 yrs but by all that is in the warp I love the baneblade. Maybe they'll let me use it in a reg game one of these days.

Way back in the day I bought the first metal (lead in those days) Chaplain Terminator... And I only played Eldar then.

Lelith sort of. I don't use her rules often, as fun as they are she's not that good. I do use her as a Hekatrix when I get bored with the generic one, but even then I technically have one more Wych than I'll ever need.

But it was worth it!

Yep, Countess Marianna Chevaux. Was going to build an army with it, never got around to the army. Other than that when I do get a model cause I like how it looks, I use it as a base for a conversion for one of my armies.

thats my general approach to warhammer lol and most minis.

i guess the stand out for me is fabius bile, the soul grinder (of which i need another because lists with only 1 fail lol). Typhus is another, and the cypher with a regiment of dark angels ...ooohh ahhh pretty .... what do you mean they don't work in an army effectivelly???

Currently I'm painting up an =][= Eldar Ranger at the moment.

I bought that Wolf Guard with dual Wolf Claws. Never used him, never painted him. Ended up selling him at a LFGS swap meet.

I bougth the Bretonnian king, althou I never intend to build a Bretonnian army but damn. That moddel is so sweet

Bought Ghazghkull when he first came out, because it is an amazing model.

Same with the limited run emperors champion.

The majority of my collection was bought for that sole reason.

The direct only techmarine, with servo harness without the helmet. Now I can only hope to get the red armour just right and do justice to the model, which is in metal btw.

Yes. The fantasy empire general with hammer in finecast. Badass model. Regrettably I then bought an entire empire army ... then sold it for more orcs and gobbos

Everything I purchase, I purchase for a reason. There's only ever been one model that I've since thought "why did I buy this?" but even then, I found a use for it ^^

No, but Ive thought about it. Maybe some day I'll buy that wraithlord just to have it, but there is always something I need first....like a demon prince.

I have a question that is slightly OT, am I right in thinking that the metal demon prince is much better then the plastic kit? Maybe I will just start a new thread.

I bought the death korps commissar, just because of the insane levels of badassery emanating from it.

I bought the Masque. But only because she was on sale at one of those local hobby stores that was clearing out its metal inventory for plastics. I got quite a few models that day but the Masque was the only one I can't really use.

I played a very large "Epic" SM force (Ultras and SW), so when Apocalypse came... I decided to collect IG.

So I did... the IG Company, 6 Baneblades, 20 LR, 6 Basilisk, etc.

Then I saw a SM Battle Company in a GW shop... I thought you could only get them online... I held that box for over 30min... thinking, NO, I collect IG.

Then I bought it... now I collect Apocalypse Ultras as well.

I collect only chaos, but I bought, converted and painted a couple f orks. They actually look quite good. Never use them though.
