666 posts, nice.

I am not a Skaven player, but if I did play them I would probably do something similar. It's not really playing them to their advantage, but it would decrease the amount of painting you need to do, that's for sure.

Can storm vermin get weapons teams?

Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee.

I think the lack of steadfast blocks will hurt you but a two towers list might work well

Yes.

The main problem with Storm Vermin is that they're slightly more killy than Clan rats(+1 WS, +1 S, and +1 init over a Clannie) but are just as squishy(same save as a Clanrat with shield for 2.5 points more expensive per model) and will run just as often(same LD). Shields tend to be a point sink for them. They're already pricy for 7 points, why make them more so? Clanrats are already swinging before the majority of rank infantry(Stormvermin are elite Skaven, but they should NOT be fighting the elites of other armies), I5 is simply putting you on simultaneous attacks for Elves(barring HE) and various Chaos units.

I tend to use mine as a small(25-30) unit of flankers in support of a steadfast Clanrat or Slave unit. They'll kill a little more than the Clanrats and, between the two, I may get enough kills to break a unit. Even then, I find Plague Monks to be better for the same cost.

In general, you'll find after a few games that you'll be wishing you brought more bodies, because at the heart of it, they're still Skaven and thus still outclassed by much of what they'll fight.

That said, it might be a fun Mors army lead by Headtaker and his upgraded unit, just don't expect it to be very effective.

Stormvermin can have a place pushing a Bell, which you generally will find in combat. Since the unit pushing the Bell is unbreakable, you generally don't have to worry that your expensive unit will go running off the board. However, with several of the Bell results being CC focused, Stormvermin's CC superiority to Clan Rats or Slaves suddenly becomes a bit more useful.

This was one reason why I was asking; could one get away with doing Skaven and NOYT have to paint 120 Slaves??

Could someone explain the "two towers" list please??

There are some instances where I am very happy to have WS4 for defensive purposes, as it means WS4 dudes only hit on 4+ (marauders and so on). As far as shields go, save the points. The shield can't be used in combat and 4+ armor vs shooting won't offset just having more bodies.

I myself only use stormvermin and slaves as core troopers, I simply have no time for clanrats any more. One of my primary complaints with skaven is that there is no way to get extra strength (i.e. lack of an augment that would help combat troops break armor), so if starting at S4 is all I can get then I guess I will take it. Sometimes I try to talk myself out of using stormvermin on the issue of point cost, but all those stat benefits for +3 points is hard to turn down. And if I want to steadfast than slaves do it far cheaper and just about as well as clanrats.

If you have multiple units of Stormvermin, you can have lots of weapons teams....Is that a good thing??

Sure, once you've maxed out your Rare points. Rare choices are much more valuable to Skaven than weapon teams.

Two towers is Bell and Furnace. Bell is pushed by SV and Furnace by Monks
