I went last year and it was a great time. San Antonio is beautiful this time of year, and the tourney is less than a mile away from the river walk. Its very well run and very friendly.

If anyone else is going make sure to say hi to me, ill be the kid with the eldar.

Well run tournament, friendly and honorable staff and usually a great group of people who come to play.

Bring your A-game lists and about $80 of food/drink money because the River Walk and surrounding restaurants/bars have some of the best food in Texas.

Ok here's an update for the Alamo this year. On Saturday may 20th 2012, the first day of the two day event, we are having a swap meet after the 3 battles that day. that means if you have anything extra you would like to trade/ sell bring it here this day. with close to 70 gamers plus local area gamers attending we should have alot of trading and buying going on.

Have you guys procured more 40k-specific terrain? Last year, all of the boards were nearly empty (and very clearly geared towards Fantasy games).

the TO has gotten the last years worth of help from GW with the 700 for terrain and a huge order of resin casted terrain. the SA gamers have been busy painting it at out local monthly meetups.

John will have all the terrain he needs. He has ordered a bunch of Amera terrain with us and I'll bring a truckload more of 40k more buildings and hills if he needs them.

I love the Alamo tournaments; it is a fantastic venue, and has a great feel of fun and friendly competition. A lot of us will be down from Austin for it.

I have had a blast every year I have played. Drinks that are easy to get and cheap, good food around, and just a fun event overall.

No idea what I will be taking. I am hoping Chaos is dropped in my lap but will see.

I just got back from Houston picking up 176 pounds of Amera buildings (that is the weight, not the price) that arrived in the port and got stuck in customs for a couple of weeks. So we have some serious building to do, but we have time.

This year with Capital City Carnage Crew taking over WFB everything on that side will run more smoothly, and the addition of all that WFB terrain and cool boards will make WFB more clearly separate and different from the 40K.

Our new venue means we have space for vendors and all game systems in the 31,000 square foot cavernous convention space of the Renaissance Hotel, and we have a great selection of evening dining choices in walking distance as well.

So things are going great and we're all super excited.

Andrew,

You have a great product and a lot of people were happy with the Terrain. We brought a large majority of our terrain from Wargames con to help out the event. Even John and some others part some terrain from our last order to help fill it out.

As always you guys are awesome to work with and make a solid product that any TO who is running a event should look at.

Kingsley Coppinger, with pure Nurgle CSM. Joe Cherry with GK in second. It was a blast, and the universe is a better place for GK not winning.

top 2 players with battle points were GK's, then CSM, Eldar, with more GK.

Actually that isnt true.

The Nurgle CSM Got Players Choice.

The Overall Winner went to a GK List that beat darkwyn on table 3 (the british guy) , and Best General went to a triple dred GK List who beat CSM on table 1.

not sure where you got that information.

Player's Choice went to a Chaos Daemons army.
I wonder how you and Jwolf have different recollections of the winners, considering you were both there... did you leave before the awards ceremony? because Kings won the Best Overall on soft score points (Fluff Bunny points), so it might not have been obvious from pure battle standings...
Kings certainly got the placard for Best Overall... so I imagine he won it...

I was at the Awards Ceremony I walked up and got an award lol. As far as the awards I payed attention to battle points so you may be correct, but GK did win the best general.

Best general went to a local playing GK who's army was not painted ( I believe it was double storm raven's), he played the CSM player on table one. The nurgle player winning overall by fluff bunny awards.

Jwolf's report is accurate

Yep I won the whole thing. Fluff Bunny votes gave me an extra 4 additional points that no GK player could ever get. This gave me a single point advantage over 2nd best over all.

It was particularly rewarding winning it all after Dash Of Pepper told me after our game last year that I "needed to think about what it took to build a competitive list".

I guess I took his advice and brought CSM. Cheers Dash wherever you are...!

Not clear what was misleading about my accurate report. Best general actually played a different CSM player on table 1.
