It's such a shame that Kroxigors, Terradon Riders, Oldblood on Carnosaur, and the other fun Lizardmen models are just kinda bad or in the case of Oldblood on Carosaur... impossible to field unless you drop your SLANN or you are in like a 4000 point round. I don't care too much, but its kinda a bummer.

The Restrictions I Put On My Tallarn Lists:
- Missile Launchers are the only HW teams allowed in Infantry Squads.
- All units able to take the FW Desert Raider special rule, must take it in lists of 750 points or more.
- 1 unit of 10 Rough Riders is required for lists of 1000 points or more.
- 2 units of Mukaali Rough Riders are required for lists of 1000 points or more.
- No vehicles besides Chimera Armoured Transports and Hydra Flak Tank Batteries are allowed.
- Al'Rahem is required in lists of 1000 points or more.

Or if you modify your tactics and make it work. Heaven forbid that people try new tactics or break away from the "wisdom" of mathhammer and fuzzy metagame discussion.

No offense but I have two Best Overalls and a Best general with an Oldblood on Carno. I also use a Skrox unit and a unit of Terradons.

You can make a very hard hitting and fast army with those components.

It is a fallacy that you must have a L4 to be competitve on the tourney scene.

I think it's certainly possible. The Lv4 come with higher risk/rewards--if you don't roll your good spells, if you roll terrible for Winds every round, if you Miscast and splat yourself, if you do roll a mega spell and it misses or the enemy saves, etc, etc.

If you're just going to slug it out, you know you're on solid footing. There's less variables on your side. But you still have to deal with the potentialities of enemy spells.

I'm tempted to buy a carnosaur...

Ha! I was about to post that I'd played against an army that beat me up pretty good with all of those things. But it was hinge. You can find good uses for all those pieces.

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

IMPOSSIBRU!

I hate hard counters. In a game of rock, paper, scissors, I hate playing any of the factions because no matter what you choose you might as well not deploy against your hard counter. I want to use a gun. Rock, paper, and scissors could all probably still beat gun, but gun will never feel like a game is a lost cause.

Lizardmen have the most potent "Monster Mash" lists, IMO. And Carnosaurs, Kroxigors and even Terradons have a place in them. Out of all the books, Lizardmen are probably the LAST ones to have worthless units, honestly. And lacking a level 4 is NOT a problem, you just have to be prepared to deal with that lack in your list, often with dominance over the combat (and perhaps even shooting) phases. And hell, even in high games (3000 pts +) you can sneak a Slann in there, or even enough Skink Priests/Engines of the Gods to dominate magic as well.

A lizardmen monster mash list broke my Beastmens 17 win streak....

Indeed, “monster mash” is what I have been playing it. Two stegs and a Carno provide a great deal of “target saturation”. That is also a boat load of pain that can be applied in a narrow frontage. Another advantage is if the Carno dies and the Old Blood survives, he does not give up his points. The army is very maneuverable and with loads of skirmishers and a couple of single model sallies, you have tools to dominate the “chaff” battle. There are some bad match ups that you have to catch a couple of breaks (my battle with RZ for example, I made a pretty ridiculous break test that allowed my suarus to go into buzz saw mode the next turn) but even my losses have been pretty narrow. Frankly, I have even gotten a couple of draws, which I never get with WoC.

When it comes to magic, Heavens is not bad and Ice Shard Blizzard is fantastic. On defense, even when I have a L4, it seems like I am saving my dice to stop that one critical spell a turn, so dropping to L2 does not seem to hurt too much. The nice part is you should dominate movement phase and will engage combats on your terms.

If I couldn't get a Slann I would probably go with Tetto'Eko... and you people are persuasive...

Naah get two priests instead, scroll+cube=searious enemy magick nerf.
Tetto is best used with a heavens slaan for that one turn of heavenly mayhem.

Go with my way of doing armies. Choose the models you think look best, stick em in a list, have fun.
Now if cold one cavalry weren't just shouted down straight off too...

Actually i've used them a couple of times, they're pretty good for flanking as are all cav, and lizardmen have it best when dealing with stupidity.

I'm pretty sure the Empire can load up with 2 dispel scrolls...

Not sure if the seal is worse than the cube. Certainly worse for vampires and other undead.

That's the whole point tho with no lvl 4 of you'r own nothiung is better than yelling DENIED right after the opponent throws his first spell.
