Hey guys since I've finished my army and played a few games ive found my self constantly flipping through codex / brb pages. (Although a lot of things are getting memorized.) Though its just a tiny inconvenience id wish a could just have all basic army information (stat lines, abilities, etc) on a few sheets of paper that i always have on hand. I know i could make it my self but i always find my self caught up in work and things at home and either forget or don't have time. I know theres a program that allows you to create a roster and get stat lines and all that but i don't know what its called. Can anyone help me out with giving me a name/link or some suggestions on other programs if theres a few out there.

You just described the Army Reference Sheets. You can find them here.

I printed the ones for my armies out and laminated them.

You should also print out the 5th edition reference sheet.

I hope that helps.

Unfortunately the reference sheets are simply the "summary" page out of the codex. Only a few of them include things such as the psychic powers or any army special rules. Best bet is to print up a reference out of army builder.

Army Builder is also a way to go, if you need more than stat lines.

But it costs money. The reference sheets are free.

The 5th Edition reference sheet helps a ton but for the codex reference sheets, they could be out of date/missing units. The necrons sheet doesnt have deathmarks, dooms day ark, and weapon entries or abilities.

Thank you though, that rulebook reference sheet is amazing.

Battlescribe is probably the best free program out there, while Army Builder is the best paid one. If you're willing to spring for the $40 Army Builder, it's worth using - it does all the math for you, it tells you when you screwed up (on the few occasions when it actually lets you screw up) and it sets out the options for every unit. It's a fantastic program.

But to be fair, I'll say that Battlescribe is good as well. I have a few problems with it, which is why I picked Army Builder, but Battlescribe does its job too.

Ya i looked into Army builder and its pretty amazing, the only downfall is the cost.

Would you know (or anyone) if when you buy it, you get a single registration key or can you just install it anywhere a bunch of times? i might be able to get some friends playing with me to chip in.

I use "the Forge" armybuilder, it's free and gives you squad options, point values, etc. as well.

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies.

When you purchase it, you get 2(might be 3, it's been a while since I bought my copy) license keys to install it onto multiple computers.

Army Builder doesn't work natively in Linux. That was my deciding factor on using Battlescribe.

Yes, I'm aware that it should work fine in WINE. I hate WINE for other reasons.

I was excited to find Battlescribe because it ran on my Linux laptop and my Android phone. Even when I thought I was going to have to create the army template myself, I was glad I wouldn't have to jump through a ton of hoops to even be able to use it (which I would have to do for Army Builder). After I created the files I found out there were sites that had them already. Those files are more complete (I only put in the units as I needed them) and much better looking. They also enforced the rules, which I had not bothered to put in my files yet.

I like the format that Army Builder prints in, and the game store that I play at uses Army Builder, but having to install WINE and get it configured so that I could run it, and not being able to run it on my phone, worked against it.

It's now 2. Or I should say that you buy the first one, and you get a second one for free.

It's worth noting that the $40 cost is for the first year only - then it drops to (IIRC) something like $23 a year, which is honestly worth every penny for what the program does. I actually discovered that I was running quite a few points under what I was writing, so AB found me an extra 15 points.

Big fan of Battlescribe here, I make and update the files for KoW and Warpath.

Have never liked Army Builder ever since they threatened various forums with legal action for members using the words "Army Builder" in a way that doesn't directly refer to their trademarked product.

Yes, that was several years ago now, and yes I still remember, and no they haven't apologised for their threats, so as far as I'm concerned they can shove it, and I will continue to actively inform people about what a horrible company they are. :p

I downloaded battlescribe on a whim, and loved it. It's really easy to mod to fix errors and the like, and is pretty easy to pick up. Takes a little searching to find the files to make lists sometimes, but it is a free program, and is very flexible.

I use it to make up random lists when I'm bored, and I can usually bang one out in a couple of minutes.

Also they have a battlescribe app for android, its kind of clunky but works.
