See above.

Heroic Sacrifice removes from play and thus Eternal Warrior does nothing.

As above. Eternal Warrior has no effect.

More specifically Heroic sacrafice does not cause wounds and EW refers to wounds caused by high strength, thus sacrafice gets around eternal warrior.

Actually, EW refers to any effect that causes Instant Death (double your toughness hits aren't the only ones) , but Heroic Sacrifice doesn't inflic Instant Death, it just removes you from play.

That is not quite correct. EW allows the model to ignore ID, either via high strength or force weapons or anything else.

You're totally right, but you get my drift.

You knew it was bound to happen. First you had characters but they were killed off too easily so they were given multiple wounds to get around that. Then you had a rule added that removed models if they suffered a wound double their T to get around that. Then you had eternal warrior that negated double T instant death to get around that. Naturally the next thing in line would be "remove from play" to get around that.

Don't worry the next DEX released will have a rule that gets around this and the cycle will continue.

Already is. St Celestine can come back from RFPAAC and RFP abilities.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Bring back WBB i say! Start the madness again and RAW arguments again (kidding!!! please don't )

I do find Remove From Play effects annoying though. If we're going to do that I want my old RT (or was it 2nd Ed) Vortex grenades back in regular play, wandering aimlessly around the battlefield eating units

Thanks for clearing this up everyone. I was playing Chaos and fighting the Grey Knights. Abaddon ripped up like five grey knights that charged him and his retinue killed the Grey Knight Special Character but then the Grey Knights Special Character performed a Heroic Sacrifice as he was dieing and it hit so Abaddon was just removed from play. He didn't even have to roll to wound and my invurnable save was not allowed either. Being an eternal warrior was also no avail to Abaddon as you guys got me an answer within like 2 minutes so I had to concede the death of my beloved General.

I was in a state of shock because I figured a model as expensive as Abaddon would not go down so easy even though I had heard Grey Knights are good in hand to hand.

I don't have much experience against the Grey Knights and don't really know their rules that well but damn they can fight well in hand to hand.

Thanks again,

Well make sure abbadon was in B2B with the GK guy who used heroic sacrifice. If not, then he can't use it on him.

Sadly he was in base to base contact with Abaddon. My opponent knew exactly what he was doing. I thought it was strange that the Grey knight Character attacked Abaddons retinue instead of Abaddon but it was all part of his plan.

And thats exactly what you are supposed to do. Considering that there are only 2 models in the game that can do this(excluding Jaws) it is just something to remember for the future.

Its about the only useful thing Crowe does once the game starts.

The useful thing is while he may be 50pts more expensive than a BroChamp he is far worse as a Chp.

He doesn't have a NFW and can't use Cleansing Flame and heroic Sacrifise in the same turn. He can't reroll wounds and doesn't get a 3++ in combat. Enemies gain FC.and Preferred enemy when they charge him and he can't join units.

The only advantages he has are his rending for vehicles, his WS 8 and Int 6 and extra wound, but being more vulnerable to eeturn strikes him will die faster.

Which is why he is used as a cheap assassination tool. And if he dies before he gets into combat, well I would gladly pay his points cost to run purifiers as Troops. I just get him as a nice door prize.
