Hi guys, i got some REPLACEMENT mini's from gw.
i'm still no way happy with the quality, but wondered what you guys would think had you recieved the same ones?
Heres a taste of one, bear in mind these are supposed to be replacements!
I know it looks like a lot of flash (which there is) its not the flash thats the problem with this part,The whole piece is almost powdery and rubs off in your fingers :S
if youre interested theres more pics of all the other parts on my blog @
http://marsekayspainting.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/finecast-why-i-hate-it-already.html
EDIT: also theres supposed to be rivets on the top part of that banner pole, most are missing!!

Haha, dont get me wrong, i'f fine with a bit of flash and mouldlines, but powdery models and models that are warped, misaligned or full of holes are where i draw the line.

Well the powder might just be mold release so a quick wash should solve that. Such a lot of flash is really annoying though

Well... my Eldar Avatar in Finecast was missing his left foot... guess the foot is'nt molten iron and thus got stuck to the alter before going to war *sigh* (fortunately I'm a bonesinger and made him a new one). And the chest decorations on him is so screwed up I have to redecorate it with greenstuff. Guess I am to lazy going back to the store and claim a new one, OR I just don't want to go in there due to their hard sales policy. They are driving me nuts.

+2. doesnt look too bad from that photo tho, if theres holes and other defects id return it. But if its just the flash your probably better off keeping it.

I'm not opposed to doing a little clean up on figures, but that amount of flash alone is unacceptable for me and my money. Mold lines are one thing, lack of proper quality control and squeezing out the last hundred or so figures before the mold is cleaned, are quite another. On this side of the pond, I've never had a problem exchanging GW models that were substandard in some way.
The "hard sell" thing, I get. When looking for a Finecrap Draigo that wasn't missing huge areas of model, the manager of the Battle Bunker nonchalantly told me "just get some greenstuff". Sorry, maybe I'm old school, or frugal or whatever, but if I spend $25 US on a model, I figure a little clean up of mold lines is all I should have to do. I shouldn't have to build up and resculpt half the model because the manufacturer can't get it right.

hey random {didnt know you were on here i look at your blog quite often}
tbh looking at the other pics i dont think the quality is anywhere good enough especialy as this is supposed to be a top of the range model {with a price tag to match !} and also is a ltd edition one its not just a case of a few pin holes where air bubbles have formed ..theres whole areas that have been miscast !
but the issue is ...can you repair it ? (even though you shouldnt have to !} verses the time spent going back swopping it over with no guarentee that the new ones will be any better ?
do what ive done in GW open it there and if it is rubbish speak to the manager and stateing the sales of goods act ive had them reduce the price (normaly more than 50%} and weve both gone away happy ..me cheap fig / him not having to trash most of his stock /spend time checking them all ..

Thanks for looking at my blog!
the issue comes down to this line.
Yes i could repeair it, but ive paid for a model that shouldnt be like this and know good quality ones DO exist, so why cant i have a good quality one to begin with?

Some numpty at WH World tried to convince me that they stopped producing metal minis because the technology in plastic had enabled them to make better quality!!! MY ARSE, they are just making better PROFIT !! remember your consumer rights, if you are not happy with the product, return it!
If EVERYONE did this instead of buying into the BS and putting up with it, it would force GW to raise the quality, not just the price!

Actually looking at your blog pics, I would certainly return it. If you get a few more dodgy ones, ask for compensation.
Only way to get them to change is to get stuff replaced or refunded and make a fuss.

I think I got really, really lucky with my anniversary model. The only real problem was on his arse which was an easy fix. I have't painted it up yet, but I'm glad I didn't get one of the duff ones. You've been so unlucky here!
