On the Ice World of Fenris....running with the wolves...

Well I have been trying to get a good color for my space wolves, and just was to lazy to go buy the proper paint, so I mixed my own, and was wondering if it could be clasified as a good color.

Paint the teeth on the chainsword boltgun metal. I think this does look like one, the red looks quite good actually.

It looks pretty close to the space wolf that they're showing off with the new paints.

Do you have a pic of this? I have a full 1000pt army currently getting put together and it will be my first 'new paint' project. Interested to see how the paint change affects the usual Wolf pallet.

I think this is way too blue. I like the original 2nd edition colour best, which was a bluegrey with only a tiny hint of blue. If in doubt, I tend to like flat grey better than too much blue.

"We train young men to drop fire on people, but their commanders won't allow them to write "feth" on their airplanes because it's obscene!" (Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now)

And you know what's funny? "feth" is actually censored on a forum about a dystopia where the nice guys are the ones who kill only millions of innocents, not billions.

In my opinion, honest answer, No.
But like it has been said before, its whether you are satisfied that counts.
You could paint them pink if you wanted, they're your models,so your opinion is the only one that really counts!!

No more brutal honesty,
how about some honest brutality?

@ all of ^^ Well, I do like the color, because ir applyes very well, and It lookes good. My real reson for choosing this color is because I dont like the really light grey/blue GW uses. I was afraid it might have been to dark like Ultas, but I guess not. Thanks for all of your replys.

Space Wolf armor color is anything from a strong blue to a colorless grey. Do whatever you think is good.

My favorite scheme is more along the adeptus or codex grey side of things, and not blue. So not your color choice. But that doesn't matter. What you like is what matters.

That makes me laugh!, As if people cant mix two colours in different proportions to get those inbetween shades........ again, more profit!!! They certainly have a good maketing strategy....... if your a gullible kid!

That Wolf is incredibly Blue, it's borderline Ultramarine. Huge colour scheme change...

If you like it, keep it up. Just a word of warning....
WRITE DOWN YOUR MIXING RATIOS!

If you forget how much of each part you mixed to get the colors you achieved, it may be a pain in the future to reproduce a correct match. Trust me from experience...

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

Exactly what I was thinking. Could just be the print/photo/scan but I suspect it's not.

Given the copy of WD I'm reading at the moment (the current one) has a full guide on how to paint SW's that's a big and sudden change in shade of grey/blue.

I was in fact thinking of that as I was flicking through the WD in a store. But then most magazines publish around 3 months in advance so who knows studio team might not have known all that much.
