Hi,

I had a really cool conversion idea for a Vanguard Veteran kill team, but I need some thunder hammers for the right arm.

The reason why is because I would like to use these for Storm Shields.

If you reply can you please post an URL with it?

OK, you have to put them in the hands yourself, but you're converting, do some legwork

(also I'm doing the same thing, but I find the boarding shields come across the body too far to be great for that)

IIRC amongst the death company weapons there is a right arm with a thunder hammer. 2011 forgeworld boarding marine had a right handed TH as well.

It's 2-handed, might be awkward with the boarding shields

Can't you just take the left arm thunderhammer, cut off the hammer, and slap it on a right arm?

The assault marine kit comes with a right handed power axe, it would be quite easy to swap the axe blade out for a hammer head, and has the advantage of being designed 1 handed.

I already had this guy laying around for a different project, so I used his thunderhammer for an identical conversion. He is a pricy model to purchase only to get a TH, but I am running Raven Guard so I was able to use shoulderpads, arms, and jump pack for different things.

I ended up cutting the TH off at the wrists, took a file to the left hand until it was gone and then did some crude green stuff work to the handle. I used the right hand, turned it about 90 degrees, and glued it to an arm that was bend at a 90 degree angle. The end result was a marine that looked like he was walking in a guarded stance, while holding the hammer in a pretty natural pose.

Have you ever swung a sledgehammer? The usual "holding it by the very end" grip we usually see is ok while they are swinging it, but it would not be a good way to hold a hammer while walking. Whenever I hold a heavy tool like that I usually grip it near the head to get a good balance point.

Here are the pictures of my guy:

I just cut off the Termy Hammer above the write. Cute the wires and files it down for mine.
