Hi all i've reciently started collecting IG and have amassed a massive amount of armour units i'm talking about 10-15 lemon russ battle tanks (some are still in bits) , 2 baneblades, 6 basilisks , 3 hellhounds , 7 chrimeria's and to top it off a warhound titan just for kicks.
i was at my local gaming complex and someone said that "i had too much armour" i'm wondering if anyone else has had this experence and is there is such a thing ?

If you can not fit all the tanks on a regular gaming table it might prove problematic. Luckily I have never had such a bad experience.

No.
You can never have enough armour...
There is no such thing as overkill. Only redundant confirmation of fire superiority.
Your next step is to get 3 of each Leman Russ and 3 Deathstrikes...

Everygame, but you know what? When the opponent goes through playing against the monstrosity list and wins,
their face is priceless. It looks like they just beat the final boss of a video game.
see i was thinking the same thing , i like having all my tanks roll over and or pound the enemy into subbmission
haha challenge accepted

I'd say that once you can field any list you'd want to at any reasonable points level, then you've got enough. No point making stuff just for the hell of it if you don't think you'll ever use it.

Of course, apocalypse is a different matter...
Apocalypse is

another one i would love to try
15 ravenwing landspeeders
master in landspeeder
12 bikes 2 attack bikes
not a great list by any means, but would look cool as hell
I'm planinng on doing the 16 speeder list if they change squadron rules in 6th
Sammael in speeder
2 ravenwing squads one with speeder one without
3 support squads

You can never never never have to much armor, but if you want to shake things up throw in some bane wolves. They make quick work of almost anything and they are fast. Just to make your bombardment even more redundant take a few HWS made up of just mortors. No one is gonna touch you.

Well you can only use up to 9 Leman Russ in a regular battle, and even that is redundant, beyond that the only problem with "too much armour" is space and redundancy.

What you have are *options*. You have more Leman Russ tanks than you can field in any normal game (only up to 9!), but for all the others you have enough to mix and match and field whatever options you want. 3 hellhounds and: 3 leman russ, 3 basilisks and 1 baneblade; 6 leman russ and 3 basilisks; 6 basilisks and a baneblade; 2 baneblades and a warhound. Etc, etc, etc.
I like options when I buy minis for my forces and if you like armor then you definitely have more than enough to cover many decent force configurations. Of course for some of those combos you will need a *LOT* of points in the game to field them. Of course you can also use them *all* simultaneously in an apocalypse game, so the more the merrier.

Well in this current year i've used upto 8 LR and a Baneblade + troops and transport, my friends and i are pretty felexable when it comes to fielding units and that battle was using everything my mate had in points vs my equivalent ( he plays necrons ).
lets just say he never under estimated my IG Armour again... well not in that many numbers
@Daston thats a downer buddy should of just stored them instead

Keep in mind, redundancy = insurance. Though it's vastly unlikely to the point my calculator tells me the probability of it happening is 0, it IS possible to scatter every single one of those 15 LR shots far enough to not hit anything whatsoever. Vampire Counts: 1000 points? Maybe? Either way... Welcome to the Jungle
In my experience, you can never have too much armor, but you can have too few troops. (Or objective scoring troops. Ah for the good old days of the armored company.)

I have at least 4 baneblade sized tanks (with another in pieces, havn't decided what to make it into and the possibility to buy another Baneblade), 2 malcador sized machines, a Macharius (Conversion) , alot of guardsmen, 2 Aircraft and atleast 8 or so Russes as well as numerous other tanks. in the store i have the second largest army next to another IG player who is switching from Armor+Infantry to Airbourne Guard and hes spreading his tanks around and i've already gotten a few and probly more to come. But in terms of Super Heavys I outweight everyone in terms of sheer firepower (couting the malcadors varients...i have 7
TO many tanks? No such thing. When the weight of your armor grinds the enemy to dust (then the table afterwards) its a good thing.

I suppose you could say this is proof of alien life.
Somewhere out in the universe there are aliens playing a wargame and they are stealing all our luck.

I think it depends. In heroic 28mm scale, on a 6'x4' table, you can easily have too much armor. You can get away with a lot of armor on that sized table if you head down to 15mm scale, or even smaller with 6mm (Epic, for example), or 3mm.
Now, if you're able to get a school's gym for the day with 5-9 friends or so with the same amount of tanks, and put '10-15 lemon russ battle tanks (some are still in bits) , 2 baneblades, 6 basilisks , 3 hellhounds , 7 chrimeria's and to top it off a warhound titan just for kicks', then you've got an appropriately sized game.
IcedAnimals wrote:What kind of guard player doesn't have a deathstrike missile! Sounds like your collection is incomplete and you have more purchases to make.
Why would you ever use a deathstrike missile? I might in an apocalypse game, and even then I would field as many as I could since it is an unreliable one shot weapon.
