I've got some bikes lying around. I've never seen the DA codex and don't know anything about it.

But I was thinking something like this for a White Scars bike Army
Librarian on a bike Str 10 blast and 5+ Invul powers (unless you can think of something better)
Captain on bike with Relic Sword, digital weapons and combi flamer
3x 8 bike units Powerfist sgt. 2 meltas, Multimelta attack bike
Honor Guard on Bikes Powerfist, 2 storm shields, thunderhammer and meltagun (this maybe needs some help)
But that would get me to about 1650 pts giving me 200 more to buy a devastator squad or something or some assault troops

anyone every played something like this? No one plays Dark Eldar except me at my store, so I"m not concerned about poison as much, GK are always tough no matter what. Any other armies that would table me or would this have a shot?

I am assuming by honor guard you mean a command squad.
I would have something off a bike to defend your own objective.

I think your worst problem would be huge hordes, as the army is fairly small for 1650.

I'd change up the 5+ invuln power on the librarian - you already get 3+/4+ for moving fast, so there's really no point in the 5+ power.

Drop in a squad of heavy bolter attack bikes and that should take care of the problem with hordes. Pretty sure upgrading your captain to Jaghatai Khan would be worthwhile as well.

I would add on some tac squads with a lascannon or missile launcher that could sit in your deployment zone in cover while the rest of your army streaks forward and wrecks shop. I would also try to add Jaghatai Khan as well.

I disagree. The worst problem is the anti-tank competitive lists run in 5e. I played a full on, all bikes, White Scars list, in a tourney a while back. 1750 or 1850. It was a table heavy with terrain, and he still didn't have enough cover saves. Packing DE lances, I had maneuverability and the guns. He got Kor'Sarro Khan in a tarpit with wyches, keeping me from tabling him with the ravs, raiders and Trublasters.

So, with some BT, GK, DE, SW (etc.) lists running near 20+ STR8 spam at 1750 or so (usually AP3), Khan is gonna have it rough.

Codex bike is the best option for bike army right now. There are a few lists on this topic over on 3plusplus blog. http://www.3plusplus.net/p/army-list-compilation.html

The problem with bikes are never against horde. Horde are not fast enough to kill bikes and they never get the charge against bikes since bikes can control how far they want to be.

The problem is you never have enough bodies to take on any decent AP2/AP3 spam list. The second you stop to start shooting, your squad is wiped by Krak missles, plasma and melta. You cannot win close-combat because 1/6 guys will die trying to assault into their troops hanging in cover.

And of course, you cannot take objectives that are above ground level. There are many tactical consideration with running a bike heavy list, you should read up more on this topic over at Kirby site.

I've been doing thought/proxy experiments with a Ravenwing force for a while now, and it seems to me that the point of the list is the Land Speeders more than the bikes. Why not try taking nine Land Speeders and using the bikes for support/objective claiming? Seems like that would be in-character for White Scars.

You'd have to pick your battles carefully, use superior speed to pick off isolated units, that sort of thing, but it could work.

Also, interesting note: why is it that a Land Speeder is cheaper than a Ravenwing Land Speeder, but a Ravenwing Land Speeder Typhoon is cheaper than a normal Land Speeder Typhoon?

i have only looked through the space marine codes once and made a 1500 point white scars list it went something like this

HQ

white scars chapter master ( special character) on his bike allowing bikes to be troops

3 squads of 7 bikes including meltas where they could be taken

1 squad of scout bikers around 7 or 8

i made the list based from the lore and basing it around 0 foot soldiers it its a very small army considering space marines usually only have small armies when using terminators

im not sure on the points of this small list but i know that bikes are not cheap to take and neither is the character but you cant get special powers or immense speed for nothing as a space marine

hope this helps

Tau 4500
Dark Eldar 2500
Space Wolves 4000
Grey Knights 3500
Tyranids 1500
Space Marines 2000
Blood Angels 2000
Black Templars 2500
Dark Angels Dark Vengeance x3
Chaos Space Marines Dark Vengeance x3
