So I dug out all my old chaos stuff, stripped it back added some new stuff and have the starting (well... Re start) of my iron warriors!

First of all it's all very very rough at the mo, it's will get better. My test model is exactly that, so there are still mould lines and stuff but it's only to get the idea

Counts as kharn the betrayer (Grendel from storm of iron) the axe is short as they are all based on trench bases and it's supposed to look trench axe-ish! Figuring the iron warriors melee weapons would be designed for brutal combat in cramped environs (trenches, bunkers etc)

I think they look great! I love the daemon prince you have, it's a fine mix of machinery and daemonic flesh, so it's going to work out well as an HQ. When I saw the short-handled chainaxe, my first reaction was "that's way too small", but after reading your reasoning for why (i.e. extreme close-quarters trench fighting) your design choice made a lot of sense.

Anyway, I hope you keep working on this army, if you want any critique, just let me know! (mind you I'm not that great of a painter, but I can give you a lot of opinion regarding design).

I love them. I wish my final stuff would look as nice as your test models.

I would be curious how you painted that silver it looks simple but really nice.

Thanks :-) the silver is really easy, first I spray black primer, then spray army painter plate metal spray, heavy wash of badab black, Devlan mud wash into recesses, highlight areas with mithril silver and and create scratches on the dull armour plates in mithril to

Then comes the fun part, weathering and blood!! :-)

What's up with the Kharn guy's head? It looks like it's terribly miscast or something.

@grimm - its the head from the FW crusade armoured tank crew, I used his head because of the Mohawk. Grendel in storm of iron has a Mohawk and is a khorne follower.

... And give me some credit ;-) I wouldn't stick a miscast head on ;-) lol
