What movies would you like to see remade with contemporary actors and technology?
As a side note, yes remakes in general are mindless and evil and hollywood is out of ideas and so on and so forth. So, if you feel that way, that's great! You don't even have to post that because I already posted it for you. On the other hand, if you have a different opinion about something someone suggested here, lets hear it!

Movie: Terminator
What I'd like to see: Not an actual remake, per se, but redoing the stop-motion Terminator scenes in CGI. Possibly touching up the eyeball scene. Otherwise I'd change nothing at all.

Assuming we are pretending we are making this in the current environment, and not picking imaginary people I suppose I would try to do something like this:
Forbidden Planet
Commander Adams: Ryan Gosling
Dr. Mobius: Russel Crowe
Alta: Gillian Jacobs
Doc: Thandie Newton
Lt. Farman: Andy Samberg
The Robot would be voiced by Alec Baldwin.
Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Terminator 3 - showing the frigging Terminator Wars, not some arrogant, self indulged Arnie with a less than average looking Terminator and an utterly horrific portrayal of John Connor.
What a waste of potential :(

I'm both selfish and rational. I'm scheming, secretive and manipulative; I use knowledge as a tool for personal gain, and in turn obtaining more knowledge. At best, I am mysterious and stealthy; at worst, I am distrustful and opportunistic.

Dune and Starship Troopers both need remakes that are faithful to the books.
Not better than Robert De Niro.
Agreed on Dune and Starship Troopers, though. A Dune movie that was actually true to the books (and the vision) would be awesome.

So you want to make the dinosaurs look ridiculous instead of intimidating?
Feathered dinosaurs can still be scary.
I don't see what people's problem is with this, past fluffy memories of Jurassic Park. Owlbears and Thunder Birds are canon in real life now. This, in my book, is awesome.

X-men without a dud Rogue and with Gambit.
Evil Dead done with an actual budget this time!
I came in to post Evil Dead, but I agree with everything you posted; WHY OH WHY was Rogue so bad in the latest X-men series? Goth Rogue from X-Men Evolution was cooler, even...
Anyway.... I personally feel they should never make re-makes, but instead continue on with what happened before; Take Ghostbusters, for instance. Never touch Ghostbusters. Never try to remake Ghostbusters. But since Murray, Ramus, and Arkroyd are so old, do a new movie like how that one Ghostbuster TV show did; Egon (Though probably Ray, as Akroyd is the only one really on board with Ghostbusters 3) just can't give up Ghostbusting despite his old age, and he starts to train new recruits. Find the right people with the right chemistry, and that would be an awesome movie.
I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.
I'd rather Evil Dead wasn't remade, especially with a budget. The lack of budget was what made it great, as it forced the actors and the directer to actually put some effort into the horror.

The evil dead was a horror movie? I thought it was a comedy
but its really great if you think about the entire series, movie 1, ash takes girl to cabin, and girl dies. movie 2, ash takes different girl to cabin, and is surprised the girl dies again

The first evil dead movie is considered to be a horror film. The next two would take a more comedic approach. I prefer the comedic incarnation of the evil dead films; they are so much fun, in that delightfully dark way that you don't see that often in American film ^^

I think a good one to be remade would be Patton....
Maybe Ben Hur as well. (heresy on both, I know.. but still thats the point of this thread right?)
I would also remake Moneyball... without the stupid girl.. there is a huge rant floating around the interwebs about how horrible the daughter was in that movie, and how she was largely pointless.. ITS A BASEBALL MOVIE FOR FETHS SAKE!!!!!

I greatly preferred Godfather to the Godfather II. Godfather II is way up there on my overrated films list.
