With all the rumours about upcoming
CSM Codex and 6th Ed Rulebook I was wondering if it's possible that
GW might want to make
SM Codex in a similar way.
- New
CSM codex will focus on "veriants" of the same army represented by different legions
- most
CSM Legions get Sprue/Transfer Sheet upgrades in time
-
DA are more-less just a variant of
SM
-
SM being a trademark army are 4 years behind with codex already surpassed by new stuff in for ex.
BA/
SW Codexes
-
BT haven't seen upgrade in a long time and don't seem to have as many fans as
BA and
SW who fully deserve separate codexes
- Tau and Eldar are already lining up for updates and are rumoured as "soon-ish"
-
DA began to appear more often and might take over Ultramarines as "trademark" chapter - but that would require them to be treated with
SM Codex
So with that in mind, perhaps:
- New
SM Codex will take on similar approach as
CSM -> basic army (for ex Ultramarines) with fluffy variants with their own rulesets
- all beloved chapters like Salamanders, Imperial Fists, White Scars etc - get additional rules and unit variants not dependant on taking
IC as
HQ
- more of 4th ed approach rather than 5th ed
-
DA and
BT get included into Codex:
SM and same ruleset / fluff / variants / aditional units treatment as chapters above
- all chapters (including
BT and
DA) get neat upgrade sprues at reasonable price
Don't kill me - it's just a tought.
What do you think?
