So what do people think of using a Master of the Forge in a Drop Pod List? It looks like I could get 10-11 Drop Pods with 3-6 Dreadnoughts (with half of those close in Ironclads). That's a whole lot of fire power especially if you give the Master of the Forge a Conversion Beamer.

It would look a little like this:

1 or 2 Masters of the forge w/ Conversion Beamer and Bike.
- These exist purely for a highly mobile high-strength weapon platform. It's on of the only ways to get a S10 AP1 in the SM Dex

5-6 Drop Pods with 5x tac Marines (1 melta each)
- These are mostly for capping objectives and small unit combats

4-6 Drop Pods with a mixture of lascannon dreadnoughts and ironclad dreadnoughts
- These would be your primary heavy hitters. the Ironclads can shred most anything close up and the lascannon ones are long range support

I know this is a ludicrous list , I just wanted to see what people thought haha

Tactical squads must be 10 models strong to get meltas, or drop pods...

Correct. However, they can combat squad after they leave the drop pod, and each take a melta.

Tactical Squads can't take two meltas.

1850 MotF dread spam you say? It's pretty damn good. Cooked this up in about 5 minutes:

Master of the forge with power weapon 115 points

Vulkan

Ironclad with heavy flamer in place of storm bolter + drop pod 180 points each

Ironclad with heavy flamer in place of storm bolter + drop pod

Ironclad with heavy flamer in place of storm bolter + drop pod

10 marines with flamer and multi melta + power fist in drop pod 205 points each

10 marines with flamer and multi melta + power fist in drop pod

Ironclad with heavy flamer in place of storm bolter + drop pod

Ironclad with heavy flamer in place of storm bolter + drop pod

Ironclad with heavy flamer in place of storm bolter + drop pod

Comes to 1845 points, you can drop 4 ironclads first turn, deploy both marine units or whoever you want. Normally I'd say conversion beamer, but in this case you don't want a free kill point walking around. After all all your drop pods are already that.
