Hello to the forum! I'm just getting into WH, and I was hoping to benefit from your collective expertise on Army choice. As of now, I've narrowed it down to the Warriors of Chaos, the Dark Elves, High Elves, or Warriors of Chaos. I guess I haven't narrowed it down that much. I've read so much about all of them that I may have geeked myself out to the point where I like them all too much to choose among them. I like the way all the models look just about equally, and I've read things about each faction that appeal to me. What do you guys think? Which would you recommend I start with, and why? Thanks!!

I would suggest Warriors of Chaos, simply because you put them twice
If it is all the same to you, go on cost. The Helves(High Elves) are 1 half of the current starter box that gives you a rulebook. $100 gets you a small Helve army, a small Skaven army, and the rulebook. Go with that, paint up or trade the Skaven for more elves and grow you list organically.
IOB is the single cheapest way to get started in the game, more so if you split it with a friend.

Incidentally if you do get the Island of blood set, I just picked one up and am starting a skaven force so I would trade you the High elves in mine for the skaven in yours if you like.

What is it that you think would be most important to you, OP? Model aesthetics? Fluff/flavor? Play style? Cost efficiency? etc.
for aesthetics, I'd probably go WoC. if fluff, I'd personally go w/ O&G (lots of personality). If play style, I'd go w/ WoC (probably the most forgiving/easy for a new player). If cost efficiency, ehh...I guess HE or WoC (I'd have to do some real price comparison research, which I can't atm!).
All 4 of those armies can be recommended for different reasons. Like magic and finesse? Go w/ one of the Elves. Like sweet armored buff dudes? Go w/ WoC. Like all the smileys on this forum? Go wit da Orcs!!!

Have you a plan of how you would like to play the game?
It is often useful when deciding an army to imagine an ideal playstyle, and then see which army best suits that ideal.

keisukekun-I woulda split that with you for sure but i didn't go with the high elves. everyone else thanks for the input! I went with WoC. I can't wait to get to work on my Chaos Knights! marielle- I actually just played my very first game yesterday! So as to how I'd like to play the game, I don't myself know how to answer it other than well and fairly I may in the future lean towards a more range-oriented force, but the overwhelming majority of people I asked pointed me in the direction of WoC as a good place to start. Hope they're right!
