Hey all,
I recently purchased a pinning drill set from my FLGS and it is the Gale Force 9 series. I got home and got ready to pin some models when I noticed that the drill bit does not fit in either of the vices they supplied. Have any of you had this problem? Or am I just missing something really obvious. Thanks

I don't have the GF9 pin drill, but mine has two drill grips - if you unscrew the covering of the drill grip, you should be able to pop out the grip and reverse it to fit either bigger or smaller drill bits.

Thats a nice pin vice.
I thought perhaps there might be another mandrel inside the pin vice somewhere, is there anywhere that unscrews?

This is what I have to work with. The vices can not be reversed and inserted backwards. The left side one is too small for the drill to even fit through, and the right side one is too large for it to grip, even when fully tightened

Mine was a common Excel one from the local hobby store.
It came with two double ended collets (the bits that hold the drill bits) for a choice of 4 sizes.
Cost me about $6. Even came with 5 1mm drill bits).

I have that one, never had a problem with the bit not fitting the drill.

Silly question but did you actually tighten the cover down on to the collet so that it is squeezed around the bit?

Yes I did. On one Vice is has a hole drilled through, and on the smaller one, there is no hole
