Subject: Home brew SM chapter... need a little guidance.

So I've decided that I'm going to create a home brew chapter. The fluff and such will come in time, the main problem I'm having is trying to figure out which codex I'm going to use.
I'd like the chapter to be based around ranged combat with a few elite units available, being a BT player I want to include psykers as I don't get to use them. Vehicle heavy would be nice plenty of firepower and mobility.
My first thoughts were to go for GK but that's all cheese and CC isn't high on the priority list. Any ideas would be great.

Dark Angels are a pretty good Codex outside vanilla. They have a lot of ranged options, can field lots of Cyclone Missile Launchers, and have most of the same units as the other codex's. Aside from that, your best bet is to just use Codex: Space Marines.

D.A. besides DW and RW are usually overpriced but they are also very cool and fun especially since they are not commonly played. Thier psykers aren't very good however. Automatically Appended Next Post: If you would like i could PM you my revised chapter fluff.

Blood Angels sound like a good fit given what you were thinking.

Cheers peeps, I'll take a look at DA and BA see what i think... to ebay i go!!!
Thinking about it BA are a pretty good match with the ability to take baals as fast att, so thats the vehicle heavy side of things... but aren't they more geared to CC over all? (Not having played with or against BA)

BA are kind of only cqb, all of their good units are melee based. They also have a rule where they rage and can run towards the enemy so you lose any shooting. They are a very very mobile army though.
