It's actually Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiple and Divide, Add and Subtract.
You don't multiply before you divide, and you don't add before you subtract.
7-6+1 is 2, not 0.

Just remember the acronym. Multiply before addition. Unless you're playing GK with Hammers then forget all previous mathematics you have learned. Another reason to dislike them. They screw with mathematical laws.
