In this game Raw Dogger from team zero comp is playing our local Tau play who is extremely good and wins quite a few tournaments with his army, which might I add looks awesome.

Commentary at the end is fascinating Reece, from Isreal, great stuff! I'd just echo maybe trying to use a bipod/static Cam for reps rather than "zoooming " around the table?

Sometimes its just too shakey and zooms around too quick.
Even mounting it on a small pile of books so its static and zooming in and out might be good?

Perhaps filming the full battle and then ediit out "zoomy" bits?

I dunno! Just some ideas!

Good stuff though!

Great report. Fantastic to see non-clone Tau list really succeed against another competitive army.

I think the most illuminating aspect of this battle report was the fact that Israel disproved the notion that you need 3x3 XV88s to be truly successful against mech lists. Also great to see that he wasn't trying to max out his elites with Fireknife suits.

I would love to see his list go up against troop heavy SW or Purifier GK. As much as I love the idea of using the farsight bomb I tend to get extremely nervous around massed psycannons and multiple squads of (very) resilient troop choices.

After watching this, I might actually consider bringing a farsight bomb out tonight against some GK.

@Ratius
Thanks, glad you liked it! It was a fun game to watch in the store, too. Israel is really good, and regularly does well or wins tournaments around here. He handled Raw Godder's IG fairly handily.

We will get a tripod, that is a good idea.

@Sekminara
Yeah, he uses a really unconventional list and does well with it. Israel ONLY plays Tau too, he loves them. That practice really helps give him an edge.

Nice rep! Things weren't really as bad for the IG player as he kept trying to make it seem though, it was pretty close lol As israel said, or tried to say, fortune favors the bold! An it certainly favored him today, if one or two rolls had gone differently IG could have tied, and even won.
I actually am not a fan of the Farsight bomb, or farsight in general. As seen here it can work, but I prefer bringing more guns onto the table and keeping my Tau as far away from the enemy as possible. Although that mob of suits may look scary, they are all low initiative, low strength, and really low WS. So one bad CC or even a deepstrike mishap could spell disaster for this Tau cadre

Yeah, Israel said he has tried the straight up SAFH style Tau, but prefers the Power Ranger squad (as we call his Farsight unit) because it is more fun to play for him.

I personally like the 9 Broadside list, but that's just me.

I played against a O'Shovah list before. It's got some scary firepower, that's for sure. Unfortunately for my opponent, he played what may perhaps be the worst nightmare for a Tau army - my wraithwing/scarab-farm list. I've got the mobility to get to his units, the resiliency to survive their incoming firepower and night-fight to protect against my grot squads. Then again, my opponent didn't have 3 tetras and probably isn't at the skill level of Israel.

BTW, sweet looking Tau army.

Ya the power rangers style of aggressive in your face shooting seems like it would fit a man who is about to burst out of his tight Abecrombie shirt more than the 9 BS list

Hahahaha, Israel is pretty jacked, that is funny as hell!

@Jy2

Yeah, Israel is really good. Last time I played that Tau army I barely won, only because he made a tactical error. He was shooting me off the board but I played to the mission and managed to squeak out a win.

The Tau army is awesome! great battle report!

Mainly a LOTR SBG wargamer, still trying to create a worthy Tau force.

Really enjoyable battle report guys, looks like you both played really well. I was kind of rooting for the guard but I think that Israel did deserve to win as he played so well with his badass in your face Tau, was much more interesting to watch than a gunline.

Yeah, that Tau army is really good. I thought it was too many eggs n one basket, but he does well with it, so what you can say to results?

That was an awesome tau list. Never seen a farsight bomb before and I must say that all those suits look glorious. Deep strike down and bring the THUNDA!

Yeah, it is brutal. Each guy can shoot a different target and it isn't bad in combat. Plus it;s highly mobile and resilient. We thought it was goofy at first, and then Israel started spanking people with it and silenced the critics!
