Here is a senaroi I was in, I just wonder if we played it right or not.

My skeleton buss if fighting my oponents horde of beastmen gors.

To the left of the skeletons stand a hioerotitan and a unit of 30 tomb guard horde formation. So now we have in a srt of line 30 tomb guards, 1 hierotitan and 5x8 skeletons. The skeletons are fighting his beatsmen. (Just so we can see the sneario.)

I want to charge the beastmen with my tomb guards and the hierotitan. The hierotitan will charge the front as he is in the front, but the majoraty of the tomb guard are in the side arch menaing they will charge the side. I declear both charges and my oponent tells me that they can not be both be performed. Here is his reasoning:

If the hierotitan where to charge his base would be sticking out on the side of the beastmen corner on a horisontal line. That would prevent the tomb guards from charging as they would not be abel to be placed on the vertical line. I acepted this as it was not very important at that point, but I wanted to argue.

There was room for the tomb guards to charge and wheel in if they where placed further back. And then he hierotitan would fitt quite snugly.

They would then be packed

TTXXXXXXXXX
TTGGGGGGG
TTGGGGGGG
TTGGGGGGG
XHHSSSSXXX
XHHSSSSXXX

T standing for tombguards, G for Gords, H for hierotitan and S from skeleton. X for emty Square Before the charge they where standing like this:

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXGGGGGGG
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXGGGGGGG
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXGGGGGGG
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXGGGGGGG
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXSSSSXX
XXXXTTTTTTTXHHXSSSSXX
XXXXTTTTTTTXHHXSSSSXX

My point being that even thogh the Hiertotan would "block" the Tomb guard and the tomb guards would "block" the hierotitan, there is nothing preventing the Tomb guard to actualy wheel into that position and still leave the hierotitan room to fight. When multiple units charge one unit you should roll the distance for all of them and then try to adjust them so that as many from both units get ti fight. In this case one hiertitan from the one unit and as many tomb guards as posible from the other.

What do you people think, I know we did not cheat, but would it be posible to charge as I describe?

Its a little hard for me to see with the picture but from what you said, it sounds as if you could complete both charges. Read p. 23. It says if you declare multiple charges on a single unit then you will roll the movement simultaneously and then move one at a time. I'll see if I can get a picture for you.

Well, the thing is that I would be abel to move the tomb guards and then then the hiero titan. However, in doing so I would requer them to move "odd"? Is that the right word. I would need to move them so that their right side is pararell with the beastmans front arch, othervice the hierotitan would not fit. Also, they would need to move further then the minimum rolled to make the charge (in fact, they where both well within the minimum.) However, if the hiertotitan where to charge first then he would have blocked the tomb guards.

Remember that after you are found to be in range you can move an unlimited amount for inches in order to complete the charge.

And since the multiple charge rule states that once I know what unit that actualy made the charge (tomb guards and hierotitan in this case) I should move them so that as many models from both units will come into combat. Since the hierotitan is only one unit then I can position the tomb guards so that the hierotitan will fitt snugly on the side.

I will bring that up next time. I do not think it would have mattered a whole lott as I made many mistaces that game, but it will be good to know. :-)

The proposed charge. Legal or not?

Legal.
Move titan first, Guard 2nd.
As long as both made the charge roll, it doesn't matter how far they actually have to move.

Bad news for the Gors.

For the recaps part I did not charge with the titan in good faith of my friends ruling. He is usualy quite brilliant, as a walking lexicon. And i did have 3 snake riders charging on the right flank. However, his Bestigors with greatweapon and the big monster he had running at me turned the game a bad turn. In the last CC of the game he killed my chariots on combat resolution and tabeled me. It was very funn however. :-)

Legal, and it doesn't matter what order you move them in. You find out who all is going to be in before moving them, then move them in a way that allows them all to get in if such a way exists. It does.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”
