Is it legal to equip a landspeeder with 2 multimeltas and if it is possible would it be 2 shots or 1 twin linked shot? According to the wording one would go in place of the heavy bolter and the other is extra so it seems like it would be okay, just want to make sure. thanks for any input.

There is no general rule that states two of the same weapon makes that weapon twin linked.
From memory you can indeed have 2 MM, just remember to fire both you're not moving very fast!

Twin linked is an additional characteristic of a certain weapon type. As nosferatu said having 2 of the same weapon does not make them twin linked.
A land speeder can have 2 weapons (ie 2 heavy bolters, 2 heavy flamers, 2 multi-meltas) but again as nosferatu reminded you, to fire both weapons you can't move any faster than combat speed.

gotcha, thanks for the clarification. I didn't even thing about the speed part, that kind of defeats the purpose of the landspeeder. Thanks again

Really you want the speeders moving around as much as possible, 12" move and firing a weapon.
One weapon will keep them cheap, but limit them as to what they're effective against.
Two different weapons allows fast movement and more fexibility in their targets.
Two weapons the same, you're limited in target choice just like a speeder with 1 weapon, but you've now got a slower 'gun boat'.

You are thinking of a tau rule and/or old rulebook rule.
The upgrades don't state the weapons become twin lined, which means if you upgrade the bolter to a melta, and then add a melta, you have two melta shots.
