I'm rather limited with how many Rhinos I can field, as I only have so many models and I need em for my troops, so I was wondering what the viability is of slogging 5 melta Chosens? I was thinking infiltrating them in cover near my opponents valuable vehicles, and jumping out to pop em asap. Or keeping them in reserve and outflanking with them on foot. Has anyone seen any kind of success with keeping them on foot? I want to get more Rhino's but the wallet has other plans....

I don't think five 28pts marines with ridiculous firepower would live very long outside a transport, cover saves or not.

That's kinda what I feared. I just don't have the resources to get more Rhinos yet

I would have gone with option 4...
Outflanking in the Rhino.

If I had a Rhino to put them in, that would be my tactic of choice, so that can go into option 1. My problem, is that I don't have enough Rhinos for my troops, and my Chosen.

I can sympathise, it's an expensive hobby we've chosen.

I'm currently running Orks & Guard, cheap in points, heavy on the wallet.

To help I became very good at stripping paint off old models, then do most of my shopping on eBay.

Best you can do is start saving, change tactics or use a proxy sadly.

Yeah I've found some great deals on ebay. Just bought a few great looking models. It is indeed an expensive hobby, but it's worth it to me.

I'm thinking about giving one of my troops my Land Raider instead, and DS my termies since they basically don't scatter. That frees up a rhino for my Chosen at least.

This is also true rhino or not. Rhinos are not bastions of fortitude, they're one of the flimsiest vehicles in the game outside of AV10 open-topped.

The fact is that chosen are expensive, and that chosen are fragile. In an army that can field 20-man power armored foot hordes and deepstriking combi-melta termies, they don't really have a place either amongst power armor or against deep field attackers (even with outflanking).

I'm not saying it's impossible to use, but unless you have a specific reason to take chosen, just look to get their role filled by other units in the codex.

You want to use chosen of max size and a mark of chaos glory then, that way they can actually make it to their target.
