Hi
I have started this thread with an idea for my new fantasy army and to hear your simmilar experiences/armies. We are starting WFB at our FLGS and I have decided to start a dwarf army that is themed on the Dwenmer from Skyrim. I really like the idea. Have you seen anything like this? have you got a simmilar army yourself.
Looking forward to your feedback

I was planning on doing an Imperial Guard army based on James Camerons Avatar. I was going to have Catchans to be like the Marines in the film and maybe even buy and convert the Tau Ocra to be like Colonel Quaditch's gun ship at the end with the massive battle.

I love the sound of your idea though, and I haven't seen anything like that. Hope you do a blog on the army if you make it I would love to see the progress!

I am very tempted to give my Chaos Marauders Gladiator helmets, long shields and short swords after watching too much Spartacus

That Avatar themed IG army sounds really cool as does the gladiator themed chaos marauders. Maybe I will start a blog on the army

I really enjoy modelling and mucking about with GW kits. Having a strong theme to ste... ahem, borrow inspiration from helps enormously in creating a unique force.

^^^^ I LOVE your Starcraft stuff. It always makes me happy to see a new thread of yours in painting and modeling.

How about an IG army based on James Cameron's Aliens? You could definitely have Valks/Vendettas based on the dropship, and hellhounds/Chimeras based on the APC. The Marines are very similar in both films regardless.

I'm working on an IG army themed on WW2 Russians, with Valhallan models and powerblob tactics backed by big artillery. However, it has more to do with Enemy at the Gates than a real historical military. I'll be avoiding out-of-place things like hammers and sickles, so I don't end up in the same pratfalls that befall many IG players who try to go with a historical theme.

One of my favorite armies I've ever seen has been a Jurassic Park themed Catachan army. Lots of Rough Riders on Cold Ones, Stegadons converted into tanks, and so on.

I have an idea to do a Dark Eldar based on Joss Whedon's Firefly. I'd like to do a dark eldar army based on the reavers. Having dead bodies hanging on all the raiders and venoms. Self mutilated faces with piercings on all the faces. Lots of spears and spikes on vehicles. Plus having a squad of Reavers is a must. I think there is a lot of modelling freedom by doing this and having bodies strapped on to the vehicles just screams Reavers.

I think movies and stuff are the best ideas for new armies.. I have a nid army all based on the Alien movies, and now i'm working on a night goblin army called the Smurfs of Chaos

Blue is the colour.

I really fancy doing an Imperial Guard army based on the Genetic Infantrymen from the Rogue Trooper storyline. they'd most likely be a mix of Cadian/Catachan. however i despise the catachan plastics, they're not a patch on the old metals.

if they re-do the plastic cat's then i'd prolly build it for real, give them some souther support too!

Theres a whole wealth of Egyptian type helmets etc out there that fit on Space Marines, so coming up with a Stargate esque marine force should be fairly easy.

Thanks

There's a Blog that is getting a bit of a dust off now I've finished moving house. The marines are frighteningly easy to do, with the hardest bit really being getting Terminator arms that let you hold a rifle with 2 hands
