I was thinking about buying a book after reading the horus rising novel, but I cant decide which one. False gods doesn't look to appealing, but I really like the look of fulgrim and galaxy in flames book, even though I dont thing my book store has them. I am looking for things with epic battles and fights, so maybe the Fall of Damnios? which books would you recommend?

Btw, here are the books I read: Rynn's world, Ultramarine Omnibus, and Horus rising

I've heard very good things about Know No Fear, which just came out. I've heard pretty middling things about Fall of Damnos, unfortunately. The Night Lords series are my favorite BL books and some of my favorite sci-fi novels altogether, but you seem to be on a good guy Space Marine kick :p In that case, I recommend Helsreach as well.

I always recommend the Eisenhorn novels. I loved the first two...the third was good, but kinda "meh" if you ask me...

I'm currently reading the Night Lords books and enjoying them very much.

Helsreach is a great read if you like Black Templars or Orks.

Most of the Horus Heresy books can be read whenever. Pretty sure No Know Fear is one of those. Helsreach is pretty good though; it's probably my least favorite Aaron Dembski-Bowden book, but it's still very good, and better than most BL books.

Not as great as Horus Rising and False Gods, but it's one of the three must reads before you continue with the series, IMHO.

I would recommend that you read these three first.
1. Horus Rising – Dan Abnett – April 2006 (print)
2. False Gods – Graham McNeill – June 2006 (print)
3. Galaxy in Flames – Ben Counter – October 2006 (print)

This one I would strongly recommend you read 4th, but isn't 100% required:
4. The Flight of the Eisenstein – James Swallow

The following are among my favorites that I've read (Horus Heresy) so far.
Fulgrim
A Thousand Sons
The First Heretic
Prospero Burns

Those are just my opinions, though. Also, I haven't read a handful of them.

Edit: reading your first post, I would like to reiterate that you should read the three HH books I listed as 1-3, in that order, before continuing with the series. Just my opinion.

If you read any of the 1st 3 HH novels, I'd definitely recommend you read all three of them. They're all good novels and work very well together.

Basically all of the HH series so far has been good reads IMHO, although Battle for the Abyss is crud and Nemesis and the Dark Angels novels are fairly weak IMHO.

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Prospero Burns was good. It really shows that SW aren't simply wolfy mcWolferton Khornate style psychos. And Russ wasn't a dumb brute.

First Heretic is by far the greatest though. It really shows how 40k and Primarch corruption came to be. It should be canon.
