This is the first guy i have painted in the whole Army. What do you think of the colors and base and anything about it? I know the head is not painted but other than that I'm done.

From the picture it's hard to tell but it kinda looks like the red bled in some places. The wings on the chest look unfinished due to the red, and the all red sword and knife don't do it for me.

The base looks good. Keep at it.

He looks like one of his dogs pooped and he's pointing to it.

What did you do? What did you do? Did you do this?

I kid, I kid

It looks just fine for a first attempt, it all takes time. try and get the face painted and he should be good to go.

Whatever you do don't strip the paint off that guy. As your first model you must keep him as is, so you can see how far you've come since you painted him.

Nicely done! perhaps some highlighting on the top of the red parts would tie them in better with the rest of the model. overall it's neat, well painted and the face is done well too, you could even add tiny white or off white highlights to the individual 'feathers' on the chest eagle it sounds fiddly but a small brush and just a dab you'll be laughing! :-)

I wish my first mini looked this good.

He looks much improved just from the first pic to the second.

I would not strip him. Keep him and gauge your progress by it. Keep up the good work, and keep learning from your experience.

an excellent start for sure!

The face looks very well done! took me a while to get faces even remotely right!

I would practice your shading a bit, perhaps on a piece of paper just to get the practice down.

your color choices are rather muddied. consider adding some complimentary colors to brighten up the model and make it pop.

excellent work!

Not all that bad. Definitely keep him around and keep painting. You'll be surprised on how much better you'll get with lots of practice. I find it great motivation to compare my newest model to my older ones to see how much progress I've made.

thats actually pretty good, but i would touch/clean up the base a bit, the sides are all covered in texture paint (?)

Much improved in the second pic. I'd still put in a touch more work on the base, though. First, clean up the edges. That may mean taking a file to it, in your case, and knocking off the textured paint before covering it with a solid color.

I might also suggest a light drybrushing of the groundwork, to bring out the texture a bit more. Before that, though, you've left a bit of a bare spot where the slot is showing - I'd add more of the basing material to cover that up before you do any more work to the top.

I've got to say, though, I'm really impressed with the face. Not sure what you did, exactly, but KEEP DOING THAT. Looks fantastic!

i completely agree with that!! most people who start painting really mess up their paintjob with it. even if the armor is fine, the ugliness of the face will drag down the overall quality.

with your marine thats not the case, in fact, it became its focal point! nice job!

It looks great.

My first paint never looked that good.

White was the bane of my existence. I remember it looked like a splattered cottage cheese all over the mini

Keep the practicing up and pretty soon Eavy'Metal will be calling demanding mad skillz!
