So I have fallen in love with Black Templars and this is my first attempt at making a 2k list. This is a more MEQ style list, but I'm going to make a "horde" list as well that I will post on here too. Here's my first one. Both lists will be 2k, as that's what I like to initially build up to.

So what do you guys think? I'm open to all suggestions since this is my first attempt at an army list for Black Templar.

The general issue with BT is that they tend to get outnumbered quickly due to higher overall cost...

You're gonna find yourself quickly overwhelmed with this list. I would drop a bunch of the upgrades for more numbers:

Lose all of the extra armor upgrades, lose the drop-pod for the termies, lose the neophytes and give the squad a rhino instead. Stick the termies in the LR crusader.
If you truly wanna benefit from Power of the Machine Spirit, I would use it on Vindicators instead where being able to more 12" and drop a S10 pie-plate will be awesome; on the preds it's a meh option since you already have the range anyway. If you only have preds then lose the PotMS upgrades and use the saved points on: more termies (claws or cyclone-launchers with tank-hunters)? a venerable dread with tank hunter?

Look through the forums for competitive BT lists and you'll see what I mean about leaning out the upgrades. One of the popular setups is to get a bunch of standard termies since you can have 2 cyclone launchers per squad. Furious-charge LC termies are very popular too (and efficient!)

Hope this helps. Love the BTs myself (though I play mainly Vanilla). Can't wait for a new codex!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have done some more research and yeah a lot of the upgrades are worthless and over priced it seems. I'll post a revised version of my list soon.

First off welcome to BT, that being said what kind of horde do you want? An assault horde or a shooty horde? BT can do either and if you have played BT for a while you can do both at the same time. I dont understand your list though, you know BT can take heavy weapons with only 5 guys whats the point of taking 10 or 15? you preditors are fine its a popular load out but for the most effective is 3 Vindicators and 6 landspeeders. Also our droppods are useless we dont have the same rules as vanilla marines so they dont come out on first turn if you are looking for a competitve list for BT check my posts there are some pretty easy competitve lists for BT. just please dont take Lazorbacks
