On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Hey guys,

I've gone kind of tank crazy at the moment, and wondering if anyone could recommend a PC game that offers a good simulation?
Preferably set in WW2, and not one that will need a Cray supercomputer to run at a reasonable rate!

I have played World of Tanks a lot, but I was after something less arcadey (preferably 1 player) and something that is a simulation/has some historical accuracy.

My searches have found nothing, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Arma 2 has a great capacity for simulation, but isn't too heavy on the sim side of things. You can mod it to have WW2, WW1 and aliens type vehicles and units. Thats probably the best game for realistic combat....

The Red Orchestra Mod: Darkest Hour.

Great. Very Realistic, very accurate.

Red Orchestra 1 (!) should be fairly cheap now.

Back in the English morass

It can be very hard to actually find a populated Darkest Hour Server. To be honest Red Orchestra 2 would probably be a better proposition but it is a multiplayer game. You could try Steel Fury, its not bad although the difficulty is a little uneven and there are lots (and lots) of key commands.

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.
