I've decided to use Knarlok Green and Bleached Bone brushed over Snakebite Brown, with purple highlights.
But, something is missing.
What should I do to make these more interesting?
I've painted yellow vines/lightning from the front of the Wave Serpent, but I'm not sure it it'll work.
What should I do to add that missing something?

Snot Green just isn't working for highlighting, so I have to go around again. The wave-shield vanes show the edges, but the green doesn't look like I did it.
I'll look into it, thanks.

I like the yellow, maybe try some more of that throughout your army? Some highlighting would be nice too. Great looking models though.

I like the uniform look of the green makes them look like they have just rolled off the production line, Not too sure about the yellow lightning though.
it just looks abit too flat (Especially compared to your gems) i think it needs a few more shades mixed into it, maybe working out from white to your yellow. it just lets the whole model down.
apart from that your painting is excellent

Edge highlighting and painting the details.
With a kit this large, it all depends on small details to break up the monotony of wide open surfaces. If you paint the gem-stones in a contrasting color, maybe red, it will set a nice contrast to the rest of the paintjob.
Cheers,

Sounding good, thanks.
I have been wary of cluttering the model with details, so only a few of the gems are purple. I could make the rest green gems, to keep the overall affect fairly minimal.
I didn't do anything else with the yellow, as I didn't know what would work. The blending sounds good, and I thought to blur it out a bit, and put a pale white line down the centre.
My Farseer has gone OTT with contrasting colours, but red and orange do seem to work.
Time to get hold of a good quality airbrush for the details.
Thanks for the input guys.

Your painting looks very clean and crisp, but it also looks flat and dull. Some of that may be the photos, but as others have mentioned, contrast is what is missing.
Shading and highlighting are the major ways contrast are achieved, or as IK-Painter mentioned, a different color in contrast to the green could also help.
A very handy tool for any painter is color wheel, and doing some reading on color theory is also helpful. The complementary color for green is red, but Christmas has long since ruined that color combo.
Your purple could also be a good contrasting color for the green if it was brighter. It looks like you're going for a muted tones, but I think a more vibrant purple or violet hue would do well here.

I would suggest using white as a secondary colour but it might start looking a little like Biel Tan. How about some Orange or purple? Could match with the dull darkish Green.

I've avoided using white, for that reason.
Brighter purple, the odd bit of orange, and more details, seems to be the best plan then.
Blending the yellow, too. It'll either look great, or be too much hastle for the result.
Right then, off to carry out plan B....

An update:
Almost every gem-shaped part of one of the War Walkers is not a green gem. The highlighting has been redone, using a mix of Goblin Green (not Snot Green, like I said) and Bleached Bone. I've got to move the white spot on a couple of them, like on the wings next to the guns. Centre spots doesn't look right.
The windscreen has had a wash of GW purple. I had to scrape some off, as it covered the whole windscreen. I'm not sure if that was better then just around the edges.
Next stop, yellow lightning.
Should it go up the legs, back from the cockpit, or both?

Maybe to break up the green paint in the crevices and make them red. Much like this.
If you want to know how to get the glow I'll tell you because I've done this on my eldar tanks

NP, I'll be looking into using orange more.
It's the 3rd point on the colour wheel, with green and purple.
And, the Missus likes purple, so it'll probably have to stay

As a former eldar player your next step is to sell the army and start a different one. That seems to be the eldar way. But on a real note, I would say to take a black wash to them, and make them look like a military. But either way they look good the way they are coming. Just don't use red. It would be way to much Xmas in one place.
