With the recent release of the empire book I felt it was time to drag out my old 6th Ed empire army and revamp it for a go at 8th edition. The process is moving along and I am begging to look to build a list from what I have.

Currently it looks like two large blocks of infantry with detachments, each with a priest.

So my question is this: what is a good ratio of priest to wizards to make for effective use of power dice.
Since I can expect to average 8 a phase (the wizzy wagon bumping it up) I can reasonably expect to use two dice per priest at a minimum, leaving, hopefully, 4 to let my wizard(s) play with. So. Is it better to run a single level 4 wizard or 2 level 2's. The point cost is relatively similar. I am just cirrious what individuals in their games have had more fun or success with.

1. Two priests and 1 Level 4 wizard
2. Two priests and 2 level 2 wizards

Hmm I'd go for a level 4, but thats just 8th edition "MUST HAVE POWER LEVELS" going to my head I suppose. Nothing like having a lore of life wizard making your guys almost untouchable while having a nasty dwellers bellow for those opportune times

I always felt Empire wizards should use Death for the debuffing, it'll help them far more to lower their WS, Strength, And toughness by D3.

And if not that, something like lore of Light or Metal for the buffing potential.

That would be shadow, not death.
I like Beast Magic. +1 S/T works great on 20mm hordes, especially in an army that gets lots of hate.
+3 S/A for an army loaded up on cheap heroes is really nice too.

Personally, I'd go with the level 4. Not because it's better, but because so many of the hero choices are good, you might be pressed for hero points. I don't see the same issue in the lord slot.

I really like WP and can totally see lots of them being fielded. At a 2500ish point game you're probably going to run out of prayers long before targets to cast them on. I could see like 3 WP walking around with their respective forces.

Empire Wizards aren't anything special. Though I like their magemobiles.

A level 4 with shadow magic I would say is mandatory for Empire now.

The +4 to cast and dispel is more useful than +2.

I'd say that one Warrior Priest per block is the best option thereon in.

Perhaps a level 2 with beast magic so you can throw an augment on when the chance presents itself.
