So, opened and painted up my first Infinity model and I have to say that the amount of detail on there blows GW's efforts out the water.

I was going to enter it for the Infinity painting contest but forgot to take a WIP shot (doh!) and since I have plenty more, I thought I would post my first Infinity model, a Reverend Custodier! Decided to keep the standard Nomad colours for the most part - just changed the strapping to purple. Oh, and purple shoes as well

So much more detail than the GW models (and it is actually in proportion!):

Good color scheme and base work on that. They are super detailed figs aren't they? I'm not sure what's going on with her face, though, is that a mask?

I'm definitely with you on the proportional figures though, I look at my GW stuff now and sigh at the prospect of painting more deformed toy soldiers.

Yeah, it is the angle that I took the pictures from - she is wearing a mask:

I'm suitably impressed that you painted her, at all. Every time I go to my Infinity figs, I look at my brushes and think "not pointy enough" or at my hands and go "too shaky." Starting out on comparatively massive, clunky, and simple Orks, the CB sculpts are almost too good - with my detailed prep work, I'm afraid they'd look better as bare metal!

Haha - I know what you mean

I'd love to get some more pointy brushes (and maybe some robotic hands while I was at it, or hell, some kind of "mind painter" ) to work on these models as they just cry out for extra effort to be put into them. Especially since you will probably only have 10 or so in a force at any one time.

But really, the detail really helps you to get paint on the model and goes in some way to excuse less than awesome painting (and I am by no means very good - actually normally hate painting and use really lazy methods, but I actually quite enjoyed painting this model and have liked painting up the next model too).

I'd just say to go for it

That's basically what I figured, but when you barely put brush to model, anyway, another small batch of Orks seems so much easier. Who knows, maybe forcing myself to start one would get the juices flowing. I wonder if I'll ever know, actually...

That's the main reason I'm glad I'm sticking to VC and Tyranids. VC are GWs best proportioned range (aside from the zombies). And Tyranids... well, show me a real Tyranid and I'll accept the models aren't properly proportioned
